Technical Rattle noise underneath the car

I have this strange rattle noise from underneath, I can hear it near the sump.
It goes higher when I drive.

Is it a belt sound? pulley?

Could be a pulley. You've got one hell of a dent in the sump by the looks of it -- needs replacing or at least bashing out.

I'd not rule out a fractured front exhaust mount or a blowing exhaust or a loose heat sheild.

Yeah I know it has a dent but it won't effect anything, driving like that for about 6 years without any problems.

Oil pump or oil pump chain?

Is there oil pump chain in my car?
I think it's a sound of a moving part, don't think the oil pump actually moves, and I don't hear it actually from the sump but near it, where the pulleys are.

One effect of running with a dinged sump can be oil pressure problems, but..............

Mk1's are prone to loosing the exhaust support by the front flexi section.

Best way of locating may be a stethoscope. Stocked by all good motor factors (and hospitals).
