Panda (Classic) Rarer than a 599 GTO.

Introduction

It is!!!
Only 30 on the road... might be a reason why. :p

Hey Adam if I can bring up in a minute with a wire brush drill attachment these quite nicely.....

Looks great, I think i'm gonna go with brick cleaner/hydrochloric acid. (y)

I'm working in the afternoon, so gonna pop to tyre place. Get tyres removed, then pick up the acid/goggles/gloves/mask.

Not sure if I like polished or painted. The problem with polished is it might look a bit chromey. :yuck:

You can see my half arsed 10 minutes sanding job here.

As you can see, I didn't get very far.

So are they going on the Parade...?

Maybe.

so thats where they went. i caught a glimpse of some one running around with one of these wheels.

You can't run with these, they weigh more than the car.

After reading online "Don't use hydrocloric acid, thats overkill"
"Just use the worlds most expensive organic crap, that costs 14 billion pounds."

First things first, I went to tyre place expecting £20 for removal and disposal.
"Do you want the alloys?" The guy wasn't joking. Anyway it cost me a nice £10.

£9 pound later...

It apparently destroys cement instantly. Really? Well it did buggar all to my wheel.

This is one wheel after the highly effective acid...

Heres the other wheel, wet and dry and a wire wheel on a battery drill...

I think the acid method is for removing dirt and brake dust.

Get a cheap corded drill, will probably have more RPM and take a bigger brush attachment and won't run out of juice when you're getting busy with it than a cordless model.

You could borrow mine but will cost you more than a new one in fuel!

Acid is what they use to strip to metal.

I have a corded black and decker, but it's just on or off. I need variable speed, I have two power packs with the cordless one though.

I wanted to be the first to fit to a Panda. (y)

I get you (y)

I'd agree with Vern and say that a rotary steel wire brush is way too aggressive. Somebody has done that on the alloy I just bought and its caused heavy scratching. Mine has layers of paint as well as some evidence of filler so decided the best approach was to take same approach as with bodywork and rub wheels down with sandpaper by hand and then repaint. I saw some polished Montecarlo rims on ebay a while back and thought they looked a little spoiled.

Montecarlo rims will look the nuts when painted :yum:
