General  Rare spec?

Hi folks,

I've just came across this on Ebay

I've never, EVER seen a Mk2 Punto with that interior? Surely that must be one of the rarest specification Mk2 Punto

Maybe want to drop the smart arse attitude?

I've been looking at Mk2 Puntos for years and I've never came across one with the red interior and the sunroof. The fact the pictures you're showing are LHD, the European market got different specs to the UK ones.

Was just wondering if anyone else had seen this.

Not really if I'm honest 🤣 probably why I've never seen another red interior 🤣

When I worked in the motor trade circa 2003/2004 we had loads of mk2 puntos and quite a lot of them had the red interior. The sunroof was/is probably more rare as it was quite an expensive option as they had electric sunroofs (unheard of on small cars back then)

Red was very common they used the same red in the Multipla, which had the fabric on the dashboard as well.

These days in the uk, seeing a mk2 Punto has become quite rare now.

All that being said “rare” rarely means good and if applied to a for sale ad by the seller usually means the car isn’t worth anything like what they are asking for it.

The most rare interior in any mk2 Punto was the sparco race seats fitted to some HGT cars in the very early 2000s

Finding pictures of them can be quite difficult they were that few and far between.

Strangely, there are around 4-5 near where I live/travel, as well as a few MK1's as well.
A pale blue one just around the corner, and a grey one that parks in the school nearby each school day, the others are around, sometimes see them in car parks or driving by.

There was one of the 'frog eye' ones with that interior down in Devon a few years ago, in a car park. We parked ours next to it, it was still there when we left, so didn't see the owner. Bit of a garish colour for my liking though!

My sister had a very early V reg MK2 Punto dark blue with that red interior around 15 years ago, it was a 1.2 ELX model which I think was top of the range below the HGT, Sporting etc as it had all electric windows, central locking & I'm pretty sure it had air con as well, it was quite a nice colour combination & I was going to have it once she was done with it as it was only a temporary stop gap car for her but was rear ended by a German bloke on the phone in a BMW, shame because it was really clean.

I’m pretty sure the more outlandish colour combos were more on the earlier puntos and then as time went by they toned it down to more blacks and greys

The worst interiors were very much the mk1s and early mk2s

The one my sister had was a 1999 very early MK2 which had the nice interior but when I was younger & looking for cars I looked at a couple of MK2's as they were dirty cheap 😂 from around 2000/2001 which both had the bland grey interiors, the interiors did get worse later on 😂 I never liked the facelift MK2b with the grill from late 2003, I always thought the front end on the pre facelift MK2's looked way better

Generally all the mk2 puntos had grey or dark plastics with some sort of blue seat fabric as time went by more grey fabrics and then black started to appear, but it was the early ones that had red fabric

The older mk2 had very much the look of cars from the 80/90 the lack of upper grill was a very 90s car thing, the mk2b facelift was to make the car a bit more 2000s to extend the longevity of the model. You only need to see a mk2b Punto beside a polo of the same era to know why fiat done it the mk2b is basically a carbon copy of a polo
