My boss just got his brand new range rover sport today. What a f*ckn beast! :D Had a quick go before i left work, its unbelievable, you cant hear a sound inside the cabin. When i turned it on i couldnt tell if the engine was runnin without lookin at the rev counter! Its got great poke to and is sposd to get way better once the engine gets broken in! His is this real deep birmingham blue with light window tint and 19" rims, and a tan leather interior. I dont think ive ever seen a vehicle with such presence, its got this great stance (it sits lower than the stanard rover and is actually built around the discovery chassis) which is adjustable depending on the terrain ( if you need more clearance) . Might take out a mortgage and get one :p

Uncle has one, they are amazing hes my boss aswell. Nearly got a chance to got in it aswell company insurance nut found that i am not insured. GUTTED One day i will be able to though

really nice car though

Yeah, its very nice, but Clarkson took both the sport and the run of the mill new Range rover on salisbury plains racing & outmanouvering a challenger tank. Result was that the sport is not as good as the normal Range rover and Clarkson dont reckon that much to it!(n)

Clarkson knows jack

Clarkson may know jack but to be honest the range rover sport is pretty poor when off the road, the lower ground clearance hampers it.

It is also very poor on MPG. Think it did 7 miles when clarkson put a gallon of fuel in it before it spluttered to a halt.

Also you can get the supercharged 4.2 V8 in the normal range rover, which is a lot better vehicle

The ground clearance is adjustable from inside the cabin, we were messing with it this morning! it can go from that low aggresive stance for good handling in city to the same clearance as the discovery (theyre the same chassis) . The mpg on the v8 is crap but my bosses is the 2.8 v6 which is a damn sight easier on the pocket! The buckingham blue is the nicest colour ive ever seen on any range rover, at daytime it just looks like a real deep blue but at night you cant quite tell if its black or blue! Definately better than going for black! (y)

Round here and in London, Range Rovers are Chelsea Taxis driven by school run mums. Or they have massive 'bling' chrome wheels, blacked out windows and are driven by 'wannabe gangsta celebrities'

They seem a bit pointless to me I'm afraid. Poor aerodynamics, poor MPG, plus they are very heavy, damage roads and have worse handling than other vehicles amongst other things. Want to know what one of the most effective off road 4x4's is? A Panda believe it or not! Check out the original magazine reviews and write ups, and also the enthusiatic following in the Panda section.

Oh, and Clarkson rocks by the way :D

I owned a 87 plate Range Rover for a year. Loved it.

If you are worried about MPG, then you don't buy one. Simple as that.

My dads mates got the 4.2 supercharged one, bought it when it was first out and was the first guy in Berkshire to have it. But then hes a flash git and likes things like that. Its a very nice car, much better than the ML55 AMG he had before that. But i do prefer the bigger daddy range rover....

And Clarkson is the KING!

Pah................V8 Series III Landie is where its at :D

V8's and superchargers are good end of.

Lighter the car the better :)

I dont like the LR Sport, but it does sound mint!..Id give my left teeth for that engine in the Cinq!

Had another go of it earlier. Holy sh*t is all i can say,its like sitting in a cocoon when your in the drivers seat! and when you switch from automatic to sport mode trans, you have a quickshift gearbox (ie. you only have to nudge the stick up or down to change each time) .It feels like your f*ckn flyin when your acceleratin, was puttin the sh*ts up some bloke in a grand vitara on a narrow road :D Best thing though is adjusting the suspension when your at trafiic lights, everyone is just lookin like "what the?" Did i mention the heated seats he got aswell? yowza! :D

Last Thursday I was taken for a brief spin in Bushboy's new Uno Turbo. No coccoon like feel, no heated seats, no adjustable suspension etc. etc. BUT, what it did have was bags or raw, unadulterated and blistering acceleration and the feeling that everything about the car was being fed back to you. (y)

I know which car I'd rather have :p

Clarkson only took the RR Sport, not both the RR Sport and the normal RR. He did mention that the normal RR would be better though.

A touch of poetic license :nono:

Clarkson took an old P38 (Metrocab) Range Rover around London on a 42 mile trip. He brimmed it at the start and brimmed it at the end, acheiving 9.1mpg.

Yes, they are overweight chav-tanks. It should be done properly, A-la my mates D-reg Defender 2.5D with 2" suspension lift and huge tyres on it. Little will stop it off road, but it is awful on it; 50mph tops :D
