right my system only has 512mb of RAM on xp pro and its really struggling.
im using onboard GFX just now so i guess this is dragging what ram i have down.
just opera,AV and outlook easily swipes 80% plus!

so no money for loads of stuff as my mouse is broke too

i have 2 x 256mb sticks and my mobo has 2 slots total with 2GB max

my mobo is nforce 4,asrock model K8NF6G-VSTA

so was gonna go for 2GB but TBH im just a bit short o cash just now.
so 1GB it is

so what do we say to somthing like this?

as stuart says, it might be better to try the 2 combinations as it will depend on the memory timings. you don't want the 512mb slowing down the 1 gig stick.

download cpu-z, go to the memory settings and it will tell you the timings for each stick.

what speed is the the current ram cos if its pc2100 you could double up on through aria uk cheaper than that ebay stuff.

i wouldn't mix different speed ram which have different cas latency.
pop on ocuk forums they have a good buy guide and explanation on ram wheterh it be sd ddr or ddr3..... hope that helps

in that case by the best speed : value for money as you can minimum of 1GB and sell on the 512mb for what ever you can get for it.
the value select ram by crucial ain't bad for the money.

how much have you got to spend on RAM mate?
