Hi again,

When I collect my Marea tomorrow, job 1 is to sort the sunroof. It's an electric one - they probably all are, but I'm new to the cars - and it's stuck tilted open at the back.

Need to know, is it a common thing? I'd guess a fuse, microswitch or something simple gone doo lally. Also, there must be a manual winding method somehow - does the panel with the interior lights drop down to reveal a cunningly hidden crank handle? All my previous cars have this so I'd hope the Marea does too.

Cheers in advance,

Yeah, there is a key cunningly hidden above the lamps so you can wind it back by hand.

That's handy to know Dave...mine works fine at the moment but you can bet the thing would fail during a hail storm!

With the Marea there is a crank under the light fitting in the centre. You knock out the blankers, undo the screws and drop it down. You will see a crank to wind it back in place.

Incidentally mine had exactly the same problem when i bought it. The fault was that the fuses kept blowing when I operated the electric sunroof. I investigated and found one of the retaining screws of the light unit to have pierced through one of the power cables for the sunroof motor. After remowing the motor mount screws, freeing the wire and taping it, re-assembling the whole lot and fitting a new fuse it worked fine.
