nice to read from You again ! I'd been interested by the rain sensor saga, and more by the cruise control you seem to have implemented in your GP.

I had wires from stalk connector (pins 8 & 10) derivated to a breadboard so I could simulate the resistors voltage divider that is used to drive the cruise control. So far I could succeed in enabling the CC in the proxy alignement section of MES, but I can't activate it using the 2K4 resistor that is supposed to be in the circuit when CC is switched ON (according to eLearn test procedure). Neither can I turn the light ON using the actuators section :-(

I thought those "options" were part of the "preparation" job done @ the dealer when new car arrives (assuming the HW is present), like the comfort close/opening which doesn't require extra HW; might be only accessible with the official dealer system ??

Let us know what you'll find out with your "decent" ELM327 ;-)

Great to see your determination in this project. The best thing is definitely to get a good cable like you are planning(have a look at Alfaodb web page their are links for various cable.

I also encountered an error when I tried to configure ESP to body computer it was also a cable issue, Alexey of Alfaodb was very helpful he even sent me a special version of the software to work around my cheap cable.

Thanks for the info

My car came with Cruise control and front fog lights. seems like it should work for my car. i ll try to enable the rain sensor menu on my cluster panel with MES first.

Just out of curiosity I removed the lights and found that the rain sensor socket and sun roof socket where hidden inside the liner.

Maybe is because your car is another version than mine. What version is? Emotion? Dynamic? Sport? It is really important. Mine for example, is a Dynamic version late '07 does no comes with that connector sadly :(

Thank you for that info. When you say "good cable", are you meaning about OBDII adapter? I've also used ethernet wire twisted.

By the way, thanks for your ESP retrofit tutorial :D

I contacted him a year ago asking about how steering wheel system codes works and he is a really good guy. I will ask him again.

The ESP retrofit tutorial is awesome, is just what I was looking for. I made a PDF translating it to Spanish because reading too much english makes me go crazy hehehe. Maybe next month I will ask you a few question about it, when I'd have all parts required.

Hey Bernie,

sorry for the late reply! Too much different messages on same thread :D

You have to connect pin 8 to 10 that is ground, but you have also connect the 8 wire to pin 41 on Body Computer connector "D". Then you have to enable Cruise Control and do proxy aligment with load resistor emulating "ON" switch on CC, as far as the Body Computer check all its stuff, on your dashboard will appear "Cruise Control Enabled" and the CC icon ON.

Check if your car instrument cluster has the LED inside, otherwise you won't see the logo and some people says that if cluster does not have that light or something like that you wont able to enable it. I tried with old instrument cluster with NO CC LED and it worked alongside with new cluster that has LED on it (that a long stuff messing around with OBD port hehehe).

Maybe rain sensor and auto-close stuff is not working due to using a cheap ELM327.

I think that is time to get a better adapter since I want to go further than CC and read codes. With a Launch adapter you can only read a few stuff and write injectors codes, but nothing else, so I am looking for what OBDII adapter can I buy.

Guys, what do you recommend me to get? OBDLink or OBDKey?

I understand that MO1 provides a grounding reference to the CC switch thru its pin 34 to pin 10 of the stalk. This ground is then sent back from pin 8 to the BC's pin 41, AFTER going thru various resistors so the BC knows the status of the CC stalk. There is a procedure to test the switches in eLearn, but it doesn't make sense with the switch drawing...
Could you by any chance measure the RESISTANCE between pins 8 and 10 of the stalk connector (with plug removed) for the 5 different positions ??

- OFF: circuit open (I guess)
- ON: eLearn says 2480 Ω
- increase/set speed: eLearn says 740 Ω
- decrease: eLearn says 345 Ω
- resume: eLearn says 132 Ω

It is possible to obtain those values, but NOT with the switch wiring as drawn in eLearn !

My car version as reported by using VIN on eper is Emotion but according to my Insurance company it is Dynamic?

I think that is Emotion, Dynamic is cheaper on insurance than Emotion :D
Take a picture of your dashboard and show me it, then I will tell you, but if Fiat says Emotion is Emotion.

I have similar OBDII device from china with same chip, and same ELM version, but in my case is WiFi and bluetooth, so I think that problem is or ELM327 does not works well with AlfaOBD or I just can't enable it. I will buy it anyway but I think that the problem is that car doesn't want to enable it :S

-Yes and maybe, that happened to me, and also was due to bad connection between 8 and 41 :D

thanks a lot for taking your time to do that measurement. So once again to be as clear as possible, I need to know the actual (true) schematic of the Cruise Control portion of the multi-stalk (H005), since there is a discrepancy in eLearn between the drawing of that switch and the testing procedure: there is NO WAY to measure 2480 Ω when CC is ON with the provided drawing !

The idea behind all this is to build an external command to mimic the (expensive) CC stalk: two switches and a few resistors would be enough, just need to know the correct values on a genuine stalk ...

Hello Bernie,

First of all, I want to apologize about my huge and unacceptable delay, I was too busy at work with lot of issues, summer is over our heads and it is impossible to work outside without become a big roasted chicken, but after researching my documents I found that I have the values of resistor on CC (tested by me) and values are close to what eLearn says, note that there can be a difference of +/- 20% or so. I can tell you that eLearn says correct values "always" (or at least for me), because I also tried to check values with dash buttons like fog lights and car headlights regulation, and I took a look at eLearn and follow the values it says and it worked (headlights motors moved and fog lights turned on).

I took a look at the drawing and it don't get it, for me it has no sense, maybe it is wrong or I am wrong, not sure, but you only need to get load resistor/s that will match with what eLearn says and connect them between Pin 41 (Positive +) and GND.

Also I recommend to use and diode as I see at eLearn Drawing, for preventing peaks that would damage car's Body Computer (trust me, I know what I am talking about).

For me I had to use MultiECUscan for turning on CC because AlfaOBD did not work for me, but maybe was due to bad connections o bad setup before proceed with proxy aligment. I recommend to make proxy aligment with the "ON resistor".

i can take this cables from removing the light socket? the rain sensor its the same of the solar sensor?? thanks
 
Hi. I have grande Punto. I would like to ask if you have solved the problem with the installation of the rain sensor? Already working properly? Do sensors from opel/vaxhaull work? I have a dynamic version and there was no rain sensor option in MultiEcuScan. It was necessary to change the body computer to the one from 1. 3 Multijet. There is a rain sensor option. But, when I attach the sensor, it is still information that: automatic wipers not available.
How did you solve this problem?
 
Someone know how add the automatic sensor light on Grande Punto? thanks
