I tried to upgrade my radio with one of these Chinese CarPlay touchscreen devices myself. Upon unlatching the factory radio i realized the mileage display was blinking. I wasn’t able to plug in the new CarPlay myself and took it to a garage and they sort of installed the new device but when it came back the radio won’t switch off when the ignition is switched off, so has to be switched off manually. I realized this when I saw that the car having returned from the garage and turned off still has the screen lit up.
I quickly turned off the radio and turned on the ignition to check if the battery hadn’t died, and at the moment it hadn’t. The car engine and all electrics switched on and I noticed the mileage light was still blinking. Went away on holiday for the past two weeks and upon returning I find out that the car battery is dead.

Could anyone please help? I’m in Edinburgh, anyone can suggest where I can take it? @typecastboy ?

Its the can bus system that turns on the radio normally I believe, so there's only a permanent live feed to the radio, note you can always turn on the factory radio without the key in, I think the installer has simply connected the permanent live and switched live inputs together to make it work?
Typically in standard systems the red wire is permanent feed and yellow is switched look in the new radio diagram to see what wire is V+ feed and which is switched Acc. The switched wire needs to be connected to the lighter socket as this goes on and off with the key?
The flashing mileage is another matter

As John has said, it seems that the installers have messed with the wiring. I've fitted several of these aftermarket stereos that look identical to yours and whilst the cheaper (non Xtrons) are only partially plug and play, they are as far as the wiring is concerned so I don't really understand why they messed with it, unless it's faulty. The mileage is flashing as either the stereo hasn't been set up in the CANBUS settings or they haven't connected the Canbus box properly or at all. If you paid someone to do this, then at least they could have done it properly. I would take it back.
