HI GUYS,
My Uno i.e having locally fitted AC unit. My Ac tachnician asked me to convert the radiator fan in to full time running mode (i.e. to by pass it from themostat and directly connect to supply). Will this affect for the smooth function of the engine?
Cheers

No it shouldn't really, your running temp may be lower than usual though, but this may be balanced out by your engine working harder to run the a/c unit.

Cars with AC usually have 2 fans, 1 comes on normally, when the temp switch is triggered, the other comes on automatically when you switch on your AC.

Theres 2 issues with running it constantly.

1. The engine takes longer to warm up, wasting fuel & making the engine wear faster, as the oil takes longer to warm up & thin out.

2. Current drain makes the battery & alterator work harder, plus the fan, which was never designed to be on all the time, is likely to burn out faster.

I`d therefore advise you to have a seperate fan that switches on through a relay via the AC switch.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. U'r advise is very very usefull.
Cheers
