Technical r/c/l packed up

been searching about on the forum but not found the answer im after, my cars been standing for a while and batteries been disconnected for about 4 months, i reconnected it to find the doors wouldn't unlock/lock with an aftermarket alarm i installed, it'd worked fine for a couple years and couldn't think of an obvious reason apart from the alarm module may be knackered, it was only cheap so i've removed the majority of it just gotta get rid of some wires,
as i need a way to unlock/lock the car i thought to revert back to the factory r/c/l so i installed a new battery in the keyfob, pressed the button, and nowt happens
anyone know what could've happened?, as the car has just been sitting, seems off why its just packed up

Have you checked fuses?. Reconnecting the battery after so long could have blew one if theres damp somewhere....

no i haven't, i know all the alarm fuses were fine, and the central locking system is fine as when u touch the two wires together the car unlocks/locks, i'll check the fuses though just to see incase the factory rcl one has blown,
