just bought some 13cm kenwood speakers, do they go straight into the doors? or will i have to buy an adapter so they fit in??

cheers in advanced

matty

(reason.....i dont wanna fart about taking the door cards out if theyre not gonna fit straight in,as i dont have much time today)

you'll need some adapters, the standard front speakers are 5X7" i think

Re: Re: quick help, regarding 13cm components

cheers mate, i might just knock some up out of mdf then,

Re: Re: Re: quick help, regarding 13cm components

dont no wether to run them off my amp or just straight from the hu, tom suggested i ran them through amp.

if i did decide to run them straight to the head unit would 110watts be louder than standard fiat ones?

Re: Re: Re: Re: quick help, regarding 13cm components

Be pointless as your HU supplies to wattage thus the power to the 110 speakers would be the same as to the standard ones - Will be no louder but might sound a little better, Run them from your AMP why spend money and only do it half right?

cheers sy. i just wanted to know for sure. i basically wanted to avoid the hassel of feeding the wires through all the doors to the rear as im making a fibre glass twin sub enclosure for the boot which is where me amp will be displayed too,

so its looks like ill just have to get some wires running to the back!

cheers again m8

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: quick help, regarding 13cm components

btw sy, lol, ive just read back on the posts, i just wanted to clarify, i wasnt planning on running 2 components on their own off an amp, i have just got a nice kenwood amp and 2 kenwood 12inch subs, as its a 4 channel i didnt no wether to use the others for the components or just from hu, but like you say ill run the components through the amp, (im **** with audio ya see)

hope to get some pics of my install step by step, im going ahead with the fibre glass option that ive been going on about for the last 2 month, rather than the carpeted box. ive got a guide how to build a twin enclosure out of a max power mag and its pretty helpfull, after all the sites ive researched (cheers tom btw) i think its gonna look the dogs, im gonna wack a few neons in a false floor and try and get some of that kenwood plexi glass off ebay to go over my amp so that the neons light it from underneath, should take me about a month or 2 to build but im looking forward to starting, got me bits n bobs, all i need is a load of tubs of fibre glass and all the relating tools and materials.

hope to keep u updated

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: quick help, regarding 13cm components

If you bought the lot as a kit are the subs not meant to be run using 2 channels each (bridged)
Unless each channel has a huge output or the subs are low level then i assume you won't get the response you want from them using one channel for one sub,

Before you go wiring 2 channels to the front check if this is the case or you could end up redoing the wiring,

You'll need the spec's of the amp and subs to check this out. If budget allows maybe another amp for the comps or you could end up running them from the HU after all

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: quick help, regarding 13cm components

i was actually thinking about buying another amp, like i sed earlier i know very little about the techy side of car audio, i thought i could run 2 12inchers off 2 channels and have 2 spare? so was gunna run components off another leaving me with one spare that i was just gonna leave.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: quick help, regarding 13cm components

As Sy has suggested get urself another amp a good small amp 2 x 75watts RMS will do wonders for ur front end. This'll leave ur other amp to do the grunt work for the subs.... again it all depends on budget!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: quick help, regarding 13cm components

payed £200 for the 2 kenwwod subs and 1 kenwood amp as a package, was a cracking deal, im willing to pay about another £80 maybe for another amp, thanks for the advice the pair of you, i suppose my display will look better aswel with 2 amps, thanx again
