My Fiat Stilo is currently tax exempt and has disabled tax on it just now. It is uninsured at present as I switched the insurance onto another car but still have the insurance certificate.

I'm thinking about selling it but I'm worried it won't be as attractive without the tax.

Would I get away with taxing it at the post office using the insurance certificate I still have? Or would their computer automatically flag it up as uninsured?

Thanks

You would get away with it as they don't have a computer system to check it on (as far as I'm aware) hence why you have to take your paperwork.

Don't forget you'll have to square it with the DVLA and V5C before you'll be able to tax it which if done by post can take upto 6weeks.

I've brought a few Automatics registered as disabled vehicles affecting me getting tax, nothing that can't be easily sorted, but like you say it may put a few perspective buyers off.

Thanks. What would you recommend I do? Leave it as is or pop to the local DVLA office to remove the disabled class and tax it as normal?
