Says the guy who lives in devon?! There's some great roads down there where you really can use all the power of a 2.0 car!

My Y10 has a 1.0 engine and is lighter than an uno, but you wouldnt catch me trying to race anything in it!! Fair enough, it's quite nippy compared with a 1.0 205, Mk1 micra, etc, but the 0-60 time is still about 17sec, which is, quite frankly, embarrassing.

realistly, in everyday life you cant use a 2.0L!!!! petrol prices are sky high and police are everywhere. you would kill yourself in a 2.0L on some of the back roads here.

as for your 0-60time your Y10 must have something wrong with it :S
my 0-60 is 14seconds!

I would sort of agree with you to a certain extent and down small roads you are probably better in a lighter smaller engined car. On the petrol side, don't forget that is just a minor cost of running a car and you don't see enough police in my opinion. I'd like to see less speed cameras and more police catching the real idiots.

My old Stilo was a 2.4 Abarth but to be honest the suspension in standard form wasn't up to it, got pretty scary at full pelt, I think the 17" wheels didn't help as it suffered from tramrailing. The new owner concured it was a bit of a handful, would have benefitted from a 4 wheel track I reckon. On the otherhand the 2.0 GTV was a different matter completely. I swapped from the GTV to a Stilo and on the test drive went into a very tight left hander as if I was driving the GTV, the dealer almost shat himself and I must say I was a little surprised at how badly it handled compared with the GTV, that thing drove like it was on rails, you could drive it like a cart and know exactly what it would do. No electronic toys just a weel sorted chassis that stuck to the tarmac very well. Not the fastest car in the world with only 155bhp but enough to have some fun; I believe they are based on the Tipo platform!

I'm pretty impressed with the Alfa 156, the only problem with the handling is that it is too front heavy, that is what a diesel does I suppose, I reckon a 2.0 156 with the sportpack/veloce lowered suspension would be a very nice compromise and the 3.2 GTA with about 250bhp on tap must be quite something else
