Puzzled!

Still learning my new car but would like help please. So far I have not bothered to use the radio at all....too distracting at the moment, so its never been turned on. Today I drove from Ealing to Kew and parked near the gardens. Just for a slurp of water. Hot day. Prepared to drive off, turned key and nothing happened. Puzzling...I did it properly but no bite. Did it again, no bite but all by itself the radio turned on blaring loud. I now know how to turn the radio off! Third time of trying the key it bit, and off I went. What happened? Was I doing something wrong?

Hi,
what is your vehicle ( Panda..??),
ask in the model specific section for a more informed answer,

EDIT = I see you've got a 500L,
ask in there AND the 500 section for a better reponse,
what engine and gearbox are in your 500L..??, may be a specific feature of your set-up,

Thanks Charlie. Its a 500l and it looks like part of the start up sequence differing from my old car. Takes time to unlearn old habits!
