When I press the clutch pedal down, it goes fine until about half way, then it gets stiff then goes down again. I can also hear a loud click from under the bonnet when it hits the stiff point. Any ideas. ps It only does it some times!!!

i had exact same problem on my punto, gears change fine but when i pressed the clucth it would get stiff half way and you had to push harder then you would hear a noise and it would carry on down to floor. sometimes there was no noise but the clutch pedal was just stiff and felt rough about half way. anway took mine to clutch center it was diagnosed as clutch release bearing failure.

i drove with mine faulty for about 6 months but then it got louder and kinda worrying so i had my whole clutch replaced as my car had done over 50k miles and they would of had to take teh clutch out to replace bearinsg in it anyway.

Cheers fishdude! Gives me a couple of months to save up for a new clutch then lol. How much do you reckon it is for a new clutch?

apprantly the bearing can just go and then you cant chang gear but like i said mine was bad for monthsn then one morning it was very bad that was when i took it in. i went to MrClutch auto they charged £190 for clutch with 2 year garentee or you can get an extra years warrentee on it for another £20 i think the clutches at fiat are around £350.

you can just have the bearings fixed but to do that they have to take the whole clutch out anyway and my car has done over 50k miles so figured may aswell get new one.

Nice one mate, at least it shouldnt be fatal over the next two weeks, so i can wait till i get paid. The visa cant handle anymore beating lol. Thanks again mate.
