Hi from KeithT trying to knock a 1994 Punto 55s into shape - got it on eBay to replace my Lancia Y10. I want to change the oil but the sump plug has defeated my hex driver & 2ft long bar it's a bit tight!

hi there, yup they can be tight buggers. same engine in the t cinq.
really is a case of force. make sure the drive is in straight and to keep it aligned when you are applying the force. you could try some penetrating spray but i dont know how far it would go being upside down

Hey keith what Y10 did you have? :D
I 've still got my Y10 it's a Fila Fire LX not dead yet! still goes like a train not much rust interior is falling apart tho'
I'm a bit p*ssed off with the Punto I got the plug out - long 12mm allen key & a long bar. but further inspection revealed a bit of a rusty horror story under the RH rear arch sill end, bracket holding the fuel pipe & chassis rail under arch all rusty thought these cars were galvanised! must have missed the back corner of this one strange?! no sign of accident damage rest of the beast is rock solid. Not going to get a MOT this week! Cause seems to be crap seam sealer plenty of it with the rust lurking under it. How many bits of the electrics need unplugging before I hit it with the MIG welder?
Based on the comments in the Cars from Italy website saying no problems with rust on Puntos I bought this one without looking too closely - I should have known better after 5 Fiats & 8 Lancias

No recent pictures as it a bit of a dog these days goes well but a bit dinged & scraped mind you it did come off best against a lady in a 4X4 who though she owned the road, gave her a surprise when I didn't give way to her on a narrow road! (her paint just polished off my door!)
