Technical Punto mk1 Radio Puzzle

I removed my stock Fiat stereo from my mk1 almost 5 years ago and put it up in the loft. Now I am coming to sell this car, I have put the radio back, and seeing the 'security code' label on the cassette flap, I assumed I would need to come on here for the code. However, it worked straight away! How can this be? Not a very good security system is it?

i would say the car still has a link/saved setting to the radio, so would work straight away. If you put the radio in a different car it would need the code

If that is the case, that would be very clever indeed

The Philips based sets of that era needed the code enabling by the owner or the supplying dealer , yours obviously never was . IIRC --c- should flash breifly on the display every time its switched on if it HAS been enabled.

No, nothing flashes up on the screen, so the code must not have been programmed. Oh well, with a cassette player and a removable faceplate, I can hardly see it being high up the criminals' most-wanted list these days.
