Hi
From what ive found after searching it appears to be a common problem but all of the suggested fixes have yeilded nothing.
The front and rear wipers stopped working on my little mk1 punto 60s.
They worked for about 30 seconds then stopped again.
The interior heater also doesnt work.
Ive checked the earths
Ive put 12v directly to the wiper motors and they work
The fuses are ok
There is no muck clogging the motors.

Ive now taken the dash out.
I took apart the wiper steering colum switch and that appears to be dandy.
Whilst doing so I put 12v down the wires that go from the switch directly to the motor.high and low speed work but when I put 12v down the black and white wire the wipers re centre and the interior fan kicks in.

Are the red and red/black wires at the switch the ignition live and permant live? They dont have any voltage.

This is the only thing it failed its mot on and im on the verge of wiring in a switch to get them working.

Any ideas? Have I missed something? Is there a hidden relay?

blu73 may have a good idea on this.

IDEA ; does the steering wheel have rake adjustment..? worth moving it through a few full arc's.

Charlie

No rake adjustment but i have learnt the plastic surrounding the ignition barrel is very weak, that thing snapped right off!

mmm, not sure on this - i suspect there is a relay but not sure on its location... Does sound like a dodgy connection or earth somewhere on the circuit.

Pirus uploaded wiring diagrams to the download section recently, i recommend grabbing them and just going through the circuit to check everything. https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?categoryid=41

Found the wiring diagrams and followed the wires back.
Turned out to be the e1 relaqy on the back of the fuse board.
Swapped it out and now the wipers and heater both work.
Shame ive got to put the whole dash board back in and work out how to repair the ignition barrel!
The little spring fell out and doesnt appear to have a location.
But it works ready for the mot retest.

Thanks for the help!
