re jtd vs hgt i could buy a hgt with 1 years insurance for the cost of the jtd....

would hgt be a wiser choice?

How on earth could you have given up on the Stilo with figures like that. Sacrelidge.

Because Fiat did me an unbeatable trade-in/deal on the new Bravo Sport 150 M/J,
and with a remap the performance will be similar. The Bravo has full leather, full glass roof, climate, etc. - things that my Stilo didn't have.

The dealer didn't remove the map (I told them about it) and I later heard a guy chopped in his (nearly new) Alfa convertible 'cos when he test drove the Stilo it was far, far quicker than the Alfa, not to mention the Alfa had spent more time in the shop than on the road.

So we all left the dealers as happy chappies in the end (y)

Fiat Alfa Spanner - means ive driven more than the average person, i dont mean driven the same car but driven a multitude of other ppls cars and in my oppinion and its only an oppinion I think the 2.4 petrol is quicker. You disagree thats your oppinion, we can agree to disagree :) as for the extra 50 bhp I bought the car from a guy in Oxford who had spent a fortune on the engine 1500 quid for new cams, head skimmed, stainless exhaust system, and ported. he had the reciepts and the rollin road printout slightly exagerated it actualy reads 229 bhp but 230 sounded better hehehe, I got the car real cheap coz it needed tlc, it had never seen soapy water or a bottle of wax in its life. Its fully restored thanx to some mindless vandals that decided to tap dance on it 2 months ago, £3600 repair bill just for the bodywork, insurace paid thankfully, Im just in the proces of havin some new locating pins made for the sky roof, been as fiat no longer supply em, thanx fiat.

any chance of seeing the RR printout, red devil had his up to 200bhp, and thats the best ive seen up to now, what torque is it claiming?

Phil j,You should put some pictures up or come to some of the events so we can have a good look at her. There used to be a lot of interest/talk about the Abarth's on here but it all seems too quiet nowadays. A Stilo's a Stilo so unless it's a 5 door you cant really make a bad decision over which one to get.

My turn to get flamed!

Can have more fun in the back of a 5 door:devil:

ive also added an older seat ibiza cupra to the list now which price wise is the same as the hgt (about 2000) although a little older and about the same as the others to insure but 0-60 is at 7.6 secs...

any opinions?

here we go again.
well, not sure how fast a "230bhp" 2.4 is, as I never driven one or seeing one.
Mine jtd remapped to 165bhp and I can confrim it is quicker than a new Bravo 150mjet as I just tested one couple weeks ago.
0-60 is around 8seconds, the reason the 0-60 time wasnt very impressive is due to the jtd gearbox need to change up to third to get to 60mph.
Nothing keep up with me yet from 70-130mph, even an audi tt2.0fsi (200bhp?)fail to beat me all the way to 138mph.
not try to challege "anyone "here, it is just my experiance with my jtd, and all that performane still returning close to 50mpg and a group 5 insurance, £115 road tax, well, sounds like a tractor some may say, you just been beaten by a tractor I'm afraid.

You posted a scenario yeterday where it seemed money was a factor in your decision. That being the case perhaps performance should not be top of your list, insurance/tax/economy must be your main consideration so perhaps the Punto is your best bet.

punto astra and ibiza are all coming out around the same starting price plu sor minus 500....

mpg on all are similar as well...

the jtd would be best option but i dont really wanna spend more than 3k on the car to be honest...
