Grande Punto Punto Grande Door Lock issue

Hello,

I have a punto grande 1.2 2007 5 Dr

The inside lever of the driver door will not open the door but external handle and central locking are fine.

I have taken off the door panel and confirmed that the lever cable is secure and in place, and I have removed the lock mechanism. The cable must be disconnected inside the lock casing itself. There are 3 screws securing this case but it does not look like I can get inside without forcing it.

Any tips from members opening these lock casings or should I go the easy way out and purchase a replacement?

Can you advise or provide links to the correct part

There's a guide on the guide bit on how to do it. Be warned tho if u bugger it up you can't close your door so get a replacement just in case. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the white/gray washer bit on the cable, just after the door handle, wasn't sitting Into the clip properly. Some electrical tape later and its sorted

Hold open the effected door handle in the open position and lock/unlock the car using the remote on the key fob. That will fix it. Unless the mechanism is completely bosted

Sometimes if you open the door and accidentally press the key fob lock/unlock this can spasticate the mech and locks itself sort of mid way so you can't open from the inside, I have used the fix before!

Fair enough the go has a micro switch in the door locks which does the interior light but also stops the lock mechanisms working with the door open so unless the switch is stuck or broken it shouldn't do anything detrimental

Andy Monty! Sorry for the delay to your reply. I only managed to get around to this now! Better late then never to say thanks!!

The guide was easy to follow, but i could not get this sorted. With 2 washers, the catch was still slipping, and i tried it with a third washer and it was simply too tight when i replaced the cover. By the looks of it there is wear and tear on the plastic cover underneath the mechanism itself but there does not look like to be much wear and tear in the plastic cover that is removed and as shown in the guide

i ensured the mechanism is seated snuggly in the case and i could move the mechanism myself

Anyway a couple of hours worked and enjoyed getting greased and a few grazed knuckles!!

Everything is back together with central locking and opening the door from the outside

i will purchase the part. Would you know off hand what the correct part number is
