Technical Punto Evo GP Induction Kit // Help please!

Hi,

So I have a Punto Evo GP 2011 8v

I am new to cars so will say what I know but please let me know if I'm wrong!

I am looking to replace the airbox with a induction kit.

I have taken the airbox apart etc and looked around, I see there are 2 tubes/hoses connected to it, one pull off easily, the other requiring a metal ring tie. (if anyone could tell me the uses for the two that would be awesome, thanks!)

I am looking at induction kits on ebay (I only want the aesthetics and sound, performance I dont care about!) and I have these two.. I think they are different because one has tubing attached and one doesn't! Please let me know which I should get (or which type, these two are just examples).

If anyone could fill me in on any surrounding info that would be awesome too!

Don't buy a universal filter, it could turn out to be a pain in the arse to fit just like universal exhausts (I was told by a mechanic to stay clear of them) look up GSR, they'll more than likely make one that'll fit your car and will come with instructions on how to fit it. Myself personally I bought a BMC Panel filter, induction sound is a little louder, get a lot of turbo chatter and louder dumps but that's about it.

Ah I can understand your choice then, I haven't the slightest clue about welding, but I suppose that it could work! Any induction kit I've seen the filter sits near the drivers side wheel arch like so



That's directly from GSR for a 1.2/1.4 8V

None of their pictures match my car but i see what you mean and I'm sure i can run it to either side! There is heaps of space everywhere in my engine bay.

I think I found a thread that told me what the little hose that was running to the back of the airbox was, apparently it is a pressure monitor?

Would it be recommended I make a little nozzle for that to hook into?

I couldn't tell you for sure but it would probably be a good idea, as that will probably go back to your ECU and if the right pressure isn't showing up it'll probably throw up check engine lights.

Never, ever place an airfilter under the bonnet, it will suck in hot air from the engine, and you will loose a lot of power.
Always place the aircleaner so that it can suck in cold, outside air.
Don't use an oiled filter either, it will ruin your MAF sensor sooner or later.

I was aiming for down below the engine on the left side.

I think I've got it all figured apart from, again, the punto is being awkward with nothing fitting it ))))))))))))

I need to join a 55mm pipe to a 64mm one..

Any ideas?

Don't throw away the original airbox.
You will run into so many troubles, you'll need to put it back on...!

Haha I won't and thank you. All the ****ing about with sizes was getting annoying, just bought it, will try and figure out a way to join a 64mm to a 55mm!!

Might post a picture of my miracle if i can do it

My opinion they look stupid without the platic cover,
Ill try get pics, i took the air box and drilles 8x1" long holes its increased the pull obviously because of the better airflow and added a bmc panel filter.
It raws and does all the same ****e as an induction kit. I've compared the noises and mines louder haah i love the shhh it gives when hitting 4-4300 rpm its ace.

100% agree! I am attaching the kit to the end of the air box where the plastic tube attaches too. I'm going to remove that and the filter inside the box and see how that goes

Hi I’m trying to fit a kit on a 2011 punto evo but I don’t have a clue what I’m doing like wtf is the two pipes for I have the kit coming tomorrow and I’m at the point of just throwing whole thing in it’s box at the engine bay and hoping it fits itself

You’re replying to a post from 2015, and when you posted you didn’t even have the parts.

Generally wait for it to arrive and then read the instructions that come with it. 7 years later there is no saying if the kit hasn’t changed in multiple ways since then
