Just had my car fail mot on abs warning light on dash .
Had several waring lights come on after a battery change and car wouldnt start .Had AA come and put temp ground strap to get car started .
OBD read the fault as C111516 valve supply voltage - Below Thershold and told it could be a wiring fault or the entire module needs replacing at a cost of £700.
Was also told a recon unit cant be used as the Module is coded to the ECU .

Anyone have experience with this fault .

So nearly 10 months this has sat on my drive , anyone have any idea what sort of cost this will incure before I decide on scrapping it.
car is in near mint condition with only 71k and never had an advisory before . Seems a bit criminal to scrap it but don’t want to spend silly money on it.

Hi

Its tricky.. but

1. Battery wont be good now

So worth putting one on from a good car

2. Check that earth circuit is now ok

3. Use software to clear all gaults.. and then trace what is currently showing as poor

Where are you based..?

Somebody could help with the software

Charlie - near the M4

Battery is actually ok as it started first time which surprised me to be honest.
I have another mechanic going to look at it sometime next week for second opinion.
Thing is I had no faults at all until I changed the battery ,then car wouldnt start and I was advised it was an earth strap isssue.

im based in manningtree essex

Flexing the black cable ..as you uncouple and swap the battery ..can be enough to break the internals (n)

But a new cable should fix that..

You just need some decent diagnostics..
The C----- code is probably just lingering from the poor power 10 months ago

Look on the forums MES register..

You might be lucky :)

So you think maybe starting with a new earth strap could be worth a shot ?
it’s incredibly thick wire I would never have thought it could break internally.

So got the car up on the ramps and had a look underneath and you was correct my friend .

the ground to chassis had completpy snapped off .

Also a wire to what I think is the abs sensor I’m not entirely sure .

Have purchased a new earth lead from breakers which is easy enough to replace but the other wire I have highlighted that had the small plug which has snapped off I’m Not sure what that is .could it be an easy fix ? Can’t see where the wire goes as of yet .

have added pictures that may help

Well done :)

That small cable.. Might be ABS.. your arrows seem to be away from where the pad wear sensor would be

With 2 damaged cables..Im thinking some incident must have taken then out together.. but thats obviously historythe
I’m completely baffled on how this could have happened to be honest .

i haven’t taken the wheel off to see what where the cable goes and I’m a bit lost .
Im guessing this all explains the abs low voltage problem .
going to pop the wheel off tomorrow and see if this is the abs module . I have added a picture of the socket that I have circled where the wire should go that had snapped away , and a picture of the male part of the wire. This wire then branches off somewhere inside the wheel hub that I can’t see probably

The little connector picture here was plugged into the socket I have circled then a wire branching off this to wheel hub somewhere

Don't worry about the little wire at this point it is just for pad wear sensor , nothing to do with abs

I did think that’s what it could be . I’ll get the ground connected and see what happens
im guessing the fault codes will remain even if the ground to engine is replaced and will need to be cleared .
