Hello
2011 Fiat Punto Evo 1.4 multiair (with aircon)
Stopped charging (later found the alternator was cracked) 120A alternator
Its well know it is very difficult to get to, although can just about get to access from below
eg
.
Im getting old and bad back and limited access to underneath, and so delegated the job to local garage (friendly and competent)
They had a nightmare getting it off, and many bolts broke (eg the bottom two 8mm )(plus smaller cover mounting 6mm ones)
Plus tensioner was seized (but thats minor)
ANd had to fully remove aircon pump to access from above
Luckily the big C010 aluminium alloy bracket the alternator and aircons pump attach to was able to be removed from the engine (as uses bigger and stronger bolts)
Have replacement bracket on the way to us
So just a heads up warning that it is even a worse job than others state.
Out of info, I did manage to drill out some of the broken bolts in the bracket and retap, but still one (in the base of the bottom dowel) to do and messy, but put that aside for now as too much effort unless I have to)
(tricky to clamp the odd shaped bracket down and in correct orientation, Plus dont have a good enough drill press or access to vertical milling machine)
