Hi,
Not tried a forum before but Im hoping someone can help! My car cut out today and had only been going 2 or 3 mins so I don't think it's anything to do with over heating. Took it to the garage who plugged it into the diagnostics machine which didn't connect and the mechanic told me this suggested the ECU wasn't powered. Anyhow, he checked all electrics and connections and cleaned them and it started again (for the small price of £60) so I'm none the wiser! He said it might happen again and it might never happen again. Helpful! Any suggestions?
My krank sensor went about a year ago and similar to today the car kept cutting out but this was after 10 - 15 mins of driving and as far as I'm aware the sensor stopped working when warm, so don't think it could be the same problem as like a say I'd literally gone about 200 yards this morning bfore i lost power !
My engine light also comes on now and again when starting the car and for a while there's no power when I press the accelorator. I have to leave it for a minute then turn it off and after a couple of minutes tunr the engine on again and it's back to normal, although I have had to go through this process 3 times before now before the problem would go. Someone has suggested that the pistons are getting stuck and just need spraying with water but I'm clueless!
Any suggestions welcome!
Oh and one last thing...my wheel bearing has gone on the front left wheel. I asked the mechanic how much to replace and he quoted me £90 for fitting plus part. Is this about right?
