Technical Punto core plug leak

I have 1997 Punto with the 1.2 engine.

There is water leaking from the engine sump where it meets the gearbox bell housing.

It looks like the core plug is leaking.

Is it possible just to remove the gearbox from a Punto or do I have to remove the engine as well?

gearbox removal,clutch and flywheel removal having marked position of flywheel to put back in same position,possibly renew clutch kit as box is out.

Can report that core plug was successfully replaced. The original one had rusted through. Clutch was in good condition so no need to replace it.

To remove gearbox and refit is however a 2 man job if you want to save time....
