I have found one for sale, they seem to be quite rare. I guess no-one wanted to pay extra when they were new and and now everyone want the big valve head and hotter cam for their engine conversions.

Its meant to be in good condition and have a genuine 61000 miles out of a 1996 car. What kind of price should I be paying?

Also what do you recommend doing to the engine before fitting it? new rings, head skim, etc.... .

The 75 doesn't have bigger valves, but does have a higher lift cam and a higher compression ratio (9.8 vs. 9.6).

i paid £125 and an SPI TB for my 50k Punto75 engine.

Does it not have bigger valves than earlier Punto60's - but then the same as size as the newer ones- can't get on CC website atm to have a re-read :(

It's got the same size valves as an 1108 cento. Article is temporarily withdrawn for editing.

i was about to open a new thread but seen as iv seen this theres no need,
iv been offered a pun to 75 for £100 its had a rear end smash so just want it for the engine
the engine in it has done 110k but does run mint although im not too sure as its a lot of miles for a small engine
what else do i need to fit this? i understand i need a uncoded ecu or a remapped chip in my ecu
can the punto 4-2-1 exhaust be used?
cheers

Punto exhaust wouldnt think so...
You need a miracle to rewire the cento loom to take that ECU into account Id think.
It uses the driveline from the Cinq otherwise.

In worst acse you could use the bottom end with the Cinq head (the bottom end is slightly stronger than the 1108 I believe) and have a 1242 SPi!

there was someone on here who said thye might be able to do a chip for the standard ecu which had the mpi map and wire the standard injector wires into 4.
i also thought the valves were bigger so after finding this out i may just get a 1242 spi with tricker tb and punto 75 cam as this shouldnt be far off the power of a 1242mpi

doubt ill bother with that punto then as 110k miles is quite a lot so the bottom end wont be too good but the cam should still be ok shouldnt it so i might just get that
cheers

This is what I made from a 1108 '55' and a 1242 '75' combo, works well and has loads more torque. This is a mpi bottom end but I used half of the 75 throttle body as its 38mm which is quite a lot bigger than the standard cinq one. If you need any help let me know as I have done quite a few of these engines and work on quite a few cinqs in the area. I honed out the block also as they had suffered from bore wash and I was unsure of the milage.

Cheers Rich.

That was me, fitting an 1242 mpi engine and keeping the spi harness. This works, if you add the 1242 mpi ECU, or remap the 1108, which i am gonna do. Unfortunately my remap includes a 2.5bar MAP sensor and a turbine, so my new chip will be of little help to you. The next greek clubcento member who will convert to 1242 mpi, will remap and pass me the chip for copying it, so as soon as i have it, i will inform this forum too.

PS. I believe the 1242 mpi head also has wider intake ports and a different intake manifold bolt pattern, so it's not only cam and TB. Also the mpi uses a thinner head gasket which raises the compression ratio from 9.6:1 to 9.8:1, but that's easy to achieve if you use the mpi gasket (or even the new metallic gasket used at the 95Hp fire, that gives a 10.6-10.8:1 or so ratio...). Check it out...

Also, as it injects fuel right on the valve, forget the cold starting flat spots of the spi injection...

...but they're the same part number as 1108 SPI Centos.

i've looked on eper, and they're not  From what i can tell the article you put up on CC was correct.

Does this mean the valves are the same for;

1108 SPI
1108 MPI
1242 SPI
1242 MPI (Early Punto 75)
1242 MPI (Late Punto 60)

Interesting to see it is only the head gasket they changed to raise the compression ratio.

No.

The 1108 Sei and Cinq engines have the 31.5mm intake valves. The Punto55 does not, nor do the early punto60 SPI engines.

The later Punto 60's 1242 SPI (176.B4xxxx) has 31.5mm intake valves. As do all versions of the 1242 SPI as found in the Punto75.

it's a mistake in how the listings are done, how it searches.

the punto55 and early do have smaller valves. browsing eper you can see that.
