General punto 60 sx 0-60 2days and 18mins!

hey all ive got a punto mk1 60sx iced rims etc but does anyone no of any good mods i can do to the engine apart from exaust n induction kit that aint too pricey?

evan just a few bhp

i was happy with my engine until.......MY NAN OVER TOOK ME in her metro 1.4gta

It's a 8v 1.2 unit, you won't get anything special without £££.

but it wasnt just a 1.4 gta granny was driving so it wasnt a race, she was proubly not using it at full power, anyway thought you was banned from punto section? we dont want no trouble here

i dun mind the fact it was a 1.4 and it had a turbo it was just the look my gran gave me as she changed into 3rd looking ova at me with her evil denture showing smile damn u nan damn u

ive got muny theres gotta b summin i can do to it to get 70/75

i cud just remove my nans turbo or nick the steering wheel she did hide my head unit fac box 4 3DAYS!!

Anyway join the club mate there's lots of us with 1.2 punto's. I've got a Mk2 now which is pretty fast actually but my M1 only just did 80 at the end (after 120000 miles). There's nothing you can do realistically short of buying a faster car. Mind you if you've got 17s on or something the performance will be pathetic put on the original 13s or 14s!

i disagree with only being able to hit 80 on the motoway after a few k miles.

went to oxford yeasterday and i had a car full 4 people + audio equipment. and was crusing at 100mph on the M40 for most of the journey. altho it did take it till the engine had warmed up to get that kind of speed out of it.

and an induction kit cant make that much of a difference can it.

and on the way back i was only doing between 80-90 and somehow the rain was hitting the bonnet and near enough evaporating straight off and has jeft a nasty powdery residue on the bonnet altho it was only warm to touch when i stopped. and teh temp bar didnt go past normal

me too ive already been 100 with 4 people includin big george (hes big and hes george) and thats with my sub and no engine mods. on my own ive had 110 on the m4 yeah it took ages and ages but i got there its fast until bout 40mph then picks up again about 65 until 100 then slowly slowly goes to 110
its got 52k and my mates got a 55sx with 75k and he gets 100 with a sub

The key is knowing your cars limits, Ive had 112 from mine 1.155sx M ref 80k on clock, just me and 2 subs, its knowing your cars limits on where to take your gear changes, i take mine to 6,200 noramlly if i want top end speed, once i reach 6,000 in 5th and im hitting 97ish you down gear it into 4, then straight back into 5th if u do this a few times, it soon picks up. Not foor for the car,

as they say 112 is fast
but its **** when there no one to whitness it

And guys no worries, I know puntos go a lot faster than that, my 55S said what 97mph in the handbook? I'm sure you can get those speeds. Anyway I just said mine was knackered - in particular the clutch starting to go.

If it does do 110mph then you're punto already goes faster both than what it's supposed to do and what it is safe to do. You gave the impression that it was well slow so I just pointed out what mine was like - that's all!!

And stop speeding it's illegal.

A lot of things are illegal, rules are made to be broken, if the whole world travled at the speed limits set, in all conditions etc, the world would slowly stop within 5 years

cars always go alot faster than wat they say on the book,helps keep the insurance n emissions down.lthough pushing a 1.2 over 100mph u asking for

Speedos lie. There's no way that my 55SX actually reaches a true 107mph (which is what the speedo claims), I reckon that when the speedo says 107 it's actually doing maybe 101-102 at the most. But I rarely take it past 90 as it's just not good for the engine, at 90mph a 1.1 is working pretty hard.

i no speedos are wrong but it makes me feel good looking down and seeing a high speed alomst like catching a glimpse of a forbidden cake.

where do i get wobble bolts im going mad looking for them on google closest thing so far was my bolts wobble or screwfix direct!

The best way to get that car moving quicker, is loosing weight, put small light weight alloys in it, strip out any ice, then you could start on back seats etc if you wanted.

Thats the only real economical way of getting it going quicker.
