General Punto 1.4 16v Emotion - 2004 - what to look out for?

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I bought my first Fiat, a Punto 1.4 16v Emotion, 95hp, year '04, 5 doors.
Almost 101.000 Kms.
They are pretty rare in my country - I read they are kinda rare everywhere...!

I'm pretty satisfied so far, it's pretty enjoyable to drive and it's really well equipped.

I didn't find many information about the car on the internet, since I could only find information regarding the Punto Sporting.

Is there anything I should be careful about? Most known problems, etc.

I've not heard of that model but it sounds the same as the 1.4 16v Sporting.

There's a few things to watch out for:

Power Steering Motor - Plenty of threads on here if you do have issues.

Heating Resistor - Again quite a common fault and a good few threads on here is you have issues - usually caused by bad earth.

Exhaust - I might have just been unlucky but before fitting a full stainless system I went through 2 mid sections in 3 years.

Its a good fun little car to drive. She still puts a smile on my face.

If you are looking at modding parts are fairly cheap now too.
