I wonder how many guys like me just hate going into dealers? It doesnt matter weather I am buying a car, trading one in, buying spares or parts, I always seem to feel as if I have a big sign on my forehead saying " please mug me".
I think I would rather go to a frigging dentist than a car dealer...lol

Don't go to a dentist for a cam belt - or a dealer for that matter!

Bank account meltdown

Forget about ur 1.2 /1.8 cambelt changes. What about us 2.0 20v owners. Just got my 20v Marea back from dealer after cambelt& tensioner replacement. I'm £665
poorer!! Parts cost £110, labour £456, Vat £99. My last car was a caverlier 2.0SRI cambelt change was no more than £150. Was gonna flog it but its worth sod all. The most i'd get is £2500 for a motor with less than 40,000 miles on the clock. So decided to bite the bullet & get the belt done & keep it for a while. Hope its worth the money!! Been a reliable & quick motor these past couple of years.........

How long

Just curious as to how long other people have had cars for a serious test drive. I was reading an article by quentin wilson ( ex top ger0 and he said you should have a car for at least a full day....and without the salesman, so that you can make up your own mind.

Whats the best test drive anyone here has gotten?

fiat would you belive!!! first time i went i drove a brand new punto sporting when the new shape had just come out, he didnt even ask any details! he just said did i have my own car, which one it was and could i leave the keys!!! no time limit and no salesman!!

2nd time i went to fiat to drive a bravo and someone had to come with me cos i didnt have my license? the salesman was from the ford showroom next door? he was about 16 and he just sat texting on his mobile!!!! think he needed too change his grundies by the time i got him back to work ;o]
