Evening everyone!

Wanted to share my ideas and thoughts on my Punto mk2 16v (Should probably state it's the HLX model).

Below you will find the part list for all the "extras" I intend to install into her, please feel free to give your opinion and let me know if I should change anything:

Can't add the links apparently need to post 5 topics or get a mod to permit me.

Unfortunetly the mk2 has this horrible blue interior, I mean I guess some people can like it but my god, why couldn't they go with a simple grey/Black?
If anyone has any tips on getting either new black'd out seats and door panels please let me know.

Also was having a rear light issue, where indicators were making break lights turn on and the fog light was making the indicator turn on, anyway I found out it was some crappy electrical job the previous electrician did where the ground cable was nackerd, managed to hotwire it tho, all the lights are working but now when I turn on the headlight's I get the "Light malfunction" warning light show up on the dashboard, anythoughts on that?

So yeah, hope I can get some good help and ideas, yes the car is supposed to look, "done up" a bit like a "boy racer" car just not so crazy tho, planning to have it fully black, I am 21 and I do live in a small town. So rep is everything ahah.

I didn't mention anything about getting the windows blacked out but that's mainly because you wouldn't believe the hastle of getting your windows tinted in Portugal.

(Yes I live in Portugal, me and my dad are what he calls, "Expats")

Yes, seat colours were not Fiat's forte on the Punto, our first Punto was a MK2 1.2 Go, that had really nice black cloth seats, we've now got a MK2b with blue seats, you could take the covers off and dye them? There is a guide for taking the covers off the front seats.

The rear lights could still be causing the bulb issue, have you checked all the bulbs as that light normally only comes on when a bulb is blown, sidelight perhaps?

You can tint the rear windows yourself, again, there is a guide (tint film is easily available on Ebay). I've done mine but I couldn't get the hinges off the window and it was a real bitch to do, mine have bubbles in, don't look great close up but from a distance they'll do!

Lowering the suspension always improves the look, don't got mad with it, 25mm is perfect.

If yours is a 1.v 16v then you can replace the centre section with one from a 8v and it'll get rid of the centre silencer.

Here is a list of things you could do, all have guides:

LED indicators in the mirrors.
Footwell lights wired to the interior light.
Smooth siding.
De-badging the rear.
Colour coding the side vents.
Changing the dashboard lights to a different colour.
Fitting a FIAT sub woofer.
Alfa leather seats.

Enjoy.....

Hi there thanks for the quick reply,

Dying the seat covers how come I never thought of that (Just had a look inside, the seats are all ripped and damaged, so much for dying them :( ), such a simple but pretty smart solution ahaha However I have been looking around and apparently the seats from an alfa 47 or 156 should fit easily, just a matter of actually getting some in country Hard as hell) or getting someone that will ship them (Even harder). Also saw another lad on here with a mk2 project car, saw he got some rear alfa leather seat covers for the back seats and they came out nice. Might do that.

You see, it would seem that easy to tint the windows, but no, not in Portugal ahahah I've read up on the law here and it says to get them tinted I would need to go to a specialised garage that does it (Because apparently there are these holograms that go on the tint and the police check) that alone is a few hundred, then I need to request a new V5 with the new window tint, which alone is another few hundred, then I need to get it MOT'd again, 50€.
IKR? What a royal pain in the ass for something so simple...

Yeah I'm wondering it might be the right backlight, I'll get in a bulb it was weaker than the left when they were on. Could the side indicator lights also cause that issue?

Footwell lights is something I'll be getting also, have them in my mk1, good fun if you have them with the music reaction option ahah

Definetly de-badging the rear, do you know if they are just glued on or screwed?

Side vents will be painted too.

Dashboard lights, no idea how to do that and anything dashboard related always sounds like a pain in the back ahah

Also forgot to say that aside from all the fancy work I wanna do to her, she needs a new fuse box cover (locks are broken so it just rattles around) and a battery mounting bar, no idea where the original is. I had checked the local scrapper but he has around 6 mk1s for scrap and not a single mk2.

Mechanically she is as new as a 2001 car can ever be.

Mate thanks so much for the list, great few things I can add that I hadn't thought of.
