Technical Problems

Hi guys, got my panda a couple of months ago and loving it, apart from

Very squeaky front left, many possible culprits, a couple of worn bushes, split inner cv boot, and the coil spring looks fairly old. Oddity is that the squeak goes when the steering is at lock left.

Other problem is that it has a whine from the gearbox in 4th and only 4th which gets more noticeable the longer it's driven.

Well, ignoring the squeak initially, get that inner CV boot sorted - like yesterday! That holds the gearbox oil in so if it's split, there's little or no oil in the gearbox and if it's only 4th whining you're doing well!
THEN revisit your squeak (if it's still there, could just be lack of lube round the diff area). Any clues? Does it squeak with road speed - probably brake related - suspension movement? - then look at bushes - steering? - maybe top mount bearings?

wouldnt worry about gearbox whine to much standard on these boxes! my gearbox does it to..750 5speed.trying to get the right oil was a mission!

Cheers for the replies, will be ordering parts tomorrow if I get time. Have a Haynes and hoping the inner cv boot is reasonably easy. I reckon it's a lack of grease in cv joint causing the problem. Will update when I've got it sorted.

Actually just been looking for parts and I'm having trouble trying to work out what parts are for which variant. Any help as to where I can find front suspension bushes, coil springs inner cv boot kit (nsf) and brake hoses?

Use Eper (link at top of the page) to get fiat part number. Partsworld uk had lower arms at good price less the hassle of pressing in new bushes- if you insist for bushes only avoid non branded parts. What is wrong with the coil springs? Brokedn one or just surface rust? On the squeeking I would inspect strut top bearing as thas common issue. Brake hoses, any motor factor will help, ikve got spare pair of FirstLine hoses if you want them. Inner cv boots and bearing are available from eurocarcare.
