Hi Guys

I have a 1996 Uno Fire 1100 2 door.

Just got the car. It went fine for 3 days. Yesterday i encountered a problem whereby the car starts hesitating at about half way acceleration.

The car goes fine when you press the pedal a little and when you floor the pedal to the floor. Only when you are at about half way the car is like at a dead spot and starts to slow down. I even tried holding the pedal at this point whilst stationery and the car wanted to cut out.

Can someone help me with this please....

I have done the following:

Full service - Oil change, oil filter change, Fuel filter change, Air filter change, Spark plugs replaced.

Carb cleaner sprayed into carb. Fuel system cleaner thrown into tank with the 1st fill up (i am still using the fuel from that tank..could this have caused the issue as i have thrown the entire bottle in the tank..1 bottle treats 60 litres)

I have adjusted the timing last night and the car is alot smoother however the problem of the hesitation at halway is still there...dnt know if this helps but the car is also heavy on fuel.

Please please please can someone help me out here. I really dont know what to do as this is my first FIAT i have ever owned.

Thanks
Theo

Oh...another thing i forgot to mention.

I checked the vacuum on the Distributor and that seems fine.

There is alot of resistance when i suck or blow on the pipe

I see that there is also a small diaphram like circular thing  on my carb at the back of it...i pulled the pipe off from the carb and this made no difference. i could not make it to blow or suck on this pipe as it was very short. if i spray carb cleaner on the side of the carb should the idle change ???

Hi,

does the car warm-up properly.. where does the temp gauge needle sit whilst driving,

it could well be that your thermostat is stuck open,
or you have some air locks in the cooling system,

OR a faulty temp sensor,

which engine is in YOUR Uno..??,
charlie

Hi

The car does warm up pretty quick. In the mornings when it is very cold outside, the temp guage sits just under quarter. in the afternoons just above quarter. Fan comes in nicely as well.

I have the 1100 carburetor Uno Fire. Does this car have a temp sensor even though its carb ??? Never knew that

what does the dash temp say when the fan cuts in + out..??

that may be part of your issue..!!

when the fan comes in the dash temp is just above the quarter. My car does not get to half even

the fan also only comes in for a few seconds...maybe 10.. the guage doesnt even really seem to move though from quarter...

But the car moves properly when i floor the pedal..

Were can i find the engine temp sensor..thats what you said could be faulty ???

Hi Theo 30s, I would check the carb, since it might be a carb related issue. I have also just bought a fiat uno, mine was heavy on fuel , so I serviced the carb. Runns much better now. Robert

Hi Guys

So I serviced the carb. Turns out the was something stuck. Probably got there when I threw in the fuel system cleaner. The car is running a lot better now. Idling smoother and there is no miss anymore.

Although the car is going great now is still feel that it is rather heavy on fuel for a 1100. I only get about 350km on a full tank of fuel. Is this normal ??

Thanks for the help guys.
