Sounds like one of the 5 injectors has gone. About £50 each from Fiat and dead easy to replace. No more complicated than changing an HT lead really.

Hi I have the same problem with my HGT, I rang my nearest Fiat garage today to find out about a diagnostic test and they cant do one for 2 weeks :( I may try and see if another garage can find out what the problem i cos want to get it sorted ASAP.

i think that nige from angel tuning can do the diagnostics aswell, its worth giving him a call

Yeah I heard Nige has not been well. Im in South Wales so a bit of a trip really, esp as car not running right.

Got the problem sorted on my hgt today , got it in for a test and found out its a switch on the throttle pedalthtas the trouble cost about £250 to get it fixed , is this price a bit steep ? Things seem bit expensive to fix on a hgt 155 or is it me being cheap lol.

I have had the same prob, my light come on and they told me it was the throttle position sensor. Fiat want £487 for a whole new throttle body. What did you have changed and who did it. I am trying to get some prices at the moment.

Try cleaning the throttle body first. I know Nige used to have the same problem and was having to clean it quite frequently.

This happened to one of my HGT's - take the throttle body out and look at the "gap" around the intake; I'll bet it's full of dust?

If it is, clean it very carefully, with a brake cleaner, nmaking sure all the resudue is removed and polish it dry, again very carefully. Tickover maybe a little erratic for a while, until the car "learns" the new clean throttle body.

Good luck.

Thanks Guys at this stage I will try anything once to see if it will solve it. Have checked all the connections. How easy is it to tak off and clean. Never done it before. Obviously got to unplug everything, I cant do any more damage can I?

No, it's quite easy but make sure that everything is squeaky clean when you reconnect it.

Any decent (none franchised) garage should only charge you about £30 for the job, if you're unsure yourself.

Cheers I think I will have a go at it later. Is there a fuel supply into the throttle or it is that further along? If so do I have to turn the fuel off at all or anything?

Thanks again for all your help

The throttle control switch thingy (or potentiometer), was a common problem when i first joined a few years ago and that price seems about right...

It would be worth cleaning the throttle body first, you never know.

I have given the throttle body a clean, took the pipe off and cleaned all inside so it was nice and shiny, plugged everything back in but now my car wont start, just turns over and will not fire up! Any ideas?

I disconnected the battery for a few hours, the car is running again now although it idles very high. I was wondering if this could be due to the fact I reset the ECU? Anyway it has not solved the initial problem and the injector light is still on so looks like it going to be a new throttle body :(
