as some of you may remember I got a vibe sq8 evo for my 2006 Panda about a year (or more?) ago. I am finally getting around to installing it. However, before I do I'm thinking from my understanding of acoustics the parcel shelf will possibly need removed to allow the soundwaves to travel into the cabin? I am keen to keep the parcel shelf intact as I often have stuff in the boot I dont want theiving scum to see so would cutting holes in the parcel shelf and covering with acoustic carpet do the same thing? Also what size should they be and would positioning factor at all?

I tried searching but gave up after reading 20 pages of results so sorry if answered elsewhere.

I dont think the parcel shelf would make a massive difference. If anything with an 8" sub you may get a higher frequency phumph which you dont want to here because this is what your mid bass in the doors should be doing. In this case the shelf would act as a filter of sorts to get rid of unwanted frequecies.
We can speculate all day long though. Your best bet is to get it all installed and then test it with shelf on and shelf off and see which you prefer.

Well, it makes absolutely no difference at all (to my ears anyway) whether the parcel shelf is in place or not! This is probably because you can get your finger between the back of the parcel shelf and the back of the seat, and your hand between the sides of the seat and the side of the bodywork!

Doesn't half add a bit of bass tho lol.

EDIT: More wiring and better terminals ordered. Also upgrading speaker cable to 16AWG. I may as well just give my bank balance to C.A.D!
