Just phoned Egg insurance up to amend my insurance details. As I am now no longer a full time student and that I am now employed.

Only to be told that due to the change, my premiums have gone up by £62 plus a £15.90 admin charge!

I mean WTF really. It's not like I added class one business use or anything. I am still SDP+Commuting as I was before. To the same place I studied!!

Kinda wishing I just kept my gob shut now!

mine went up when i became a student and that was from being a FT chef (higher premium due to odd hours and licensed premises)
ine also went up when i moved from Edinburgh to the middle of nowhere up by Oban

I'd try the old trick of calling them and saying they need to beat the quote to retain your custom the following year. They are just plucking numbers out the air IMO.

Hehe, just tried that and got through to a nice chap who waived the admin charge and contacted the underwriters directly and found out the charge was "actually" only £18.70 for the adjustment.

And managed to get the admin charge from 6 months ago back for changing my numberplate as apparantly they don't charge for that yet I got charged £15.90!

I love the admin fee's as they only ever seem to exist over the phone.

So far on current policy added LPG mod, and change of number plate and no admins fees for these changes as I've always notified them in writing rather than over the phone (y)

I wonder if they'd do the same with excess in the event of a smack if I wrote to them asking for my car to be repaired :chin: :p

Surprsied they don't try adding admin fees to accidents TBH, would surprise me of the money pinching pricks to do that.

really annoys me. Seems to be the same when with phone companies.

My sister wasn't getting free 02 to 02 calls so rang up and got told no it can't be done. Put the phone down and spoke to someone else who gave her free 02 to 02 calls and then credited that months bill for the hassle.

...and Halfords, needed a new remote for my DVD player, it's Ripspeed so Halfords brand. Got told yes we can order them.

Went to order it a few days later and got told, No we can't order them, I promise you Sir, we cannot order spares.

Then asked again on the off chance and watched the guy place the order on the computer

Seems like companies only tell you what they can be arsed to!
