Hi there, for just over 3 years I have been owner to a 2006 fiat Grande Punto. Brought another a few months back, a newer 2009 model.

For a while my steering wheel was slightly out to the right and was easier to steer one way than the other, however I put this down to the tracking being off and needing repairing.

The other night I was driving then my car's steering went really heavy and the warning light came on the dashboard along with a message on the centre display screen saying "have power steering checked, see handbook".

My dad and uncle being good home mechanics helped me strip both my old and new cars and swapped over power steering motor.

The steering itself is restored to its former glory however the light is still illuminated on the dashboard and gives me a warning message every time I start the car.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has done the repair themselves and encountered similar issues?

Have I missed a step or some something wrong? Or is it a case of having to take the car into a garage to have the light reset to turn it off?

I changed an electric steering motor this year...no issues afterwards.Cars still running well.
Only thing I knew was that the replacement motor had to have the same numbers/code as the old..
