Technical Power steering issue

Firstly Hello from a newbie. My other half's 2012 500 has recently lost all power steering. What codes do I need to look for so that I can replace it with a 2nd hand unit tia Andrew

Rarely anything serious, usually a power supply issue. Especially in winter

I think first thing I would do is run a jump lead from battery negative terminal to engine block see if power steering comes back - this would point to earth cable issue
Then charge battery, or connect another battery if you have one, see if it improves
Those are usually the main two culprits

It's a popular mod to add an extra earth strap as the original is known to deteriorate over time

After seeing this I removed the column and sent bit away for repair however it's come back irreparable. What i need to know is if I'm looking to replace it what part number do I need to look for?

Hi Andrew, check for EPS fault codes, such as motor or steering angle sensor errors, to tell you what to look for when getting a second-hand unit.

Hi Olivia I sourced a second hand unit an had it refitted within 2 hours. Car seems fine for now.
