Technical Power Steering (EPS) unit

After some experimentation I have found the the steering goes a bit 'sticky' around the centre position after the car has been driven for 30+ minutes. I think what is happening is that the steering shaft in the EPS unit is warming up and expanding slightly, going a little bit tight in the bearings.
How easy is it to remove the EPS unit (2003 car with airbag) and is there a nut around the shaft to preload the bearings?
Anyone had one of these units apart and got pictures?

The power assisitance is perfect and there are no knocks, noises or other misbehaviour; its just a little bit of tightness around the centre position after a good run.

more likely to be other steering components then the column in my opinion.

but check that the shroud around the wheel is no rubbing (remove it)

the column is a totally sealed unit... nothing you can do to it.
