Got my supersprint back box fitted now. Its nice to have a (quiet) exhaust again. I didnt buy it expecting any difference in the way the car drives, but in the tiny distance i drove it back it felt a bit different. Does anyone know if the SS backbox on its own has much of an effect on power ?

Once I got the middle section on it didn't seem to make a difference from just the backbox. Will all be sorted soon thanks to a CSC manifold with de-cat :yum: oh, and a 1242

You'll need to have a complicated spacer made up for the CSC manifold to go onto a 1242 - speak to Jamie. He had one :)

And no idea on power increase for the duplex. Id be inclined to say just any backbox wont give any negligable amount of power, maybe the odd 1 or 2 bhp.

Wat about my duplex system, you think i will have a power increse?

The Cinquecento back box is one of the worst I have seen so far. Just cut an old one open and you will see what I mean.

Anything will be better than the standard back box. The SS backbox makes quite a difference to the performance on the Cinquecento. The manifold helps it quite a bit further.

According to the before and after measured by Supersprint the power increase was 8.2bhp on the whole system (from 57.1bhp @ 5730rpm to 65.3 bhp @ 6010rpm). If you compare this to the much more powerful Punto 75, had a much lower increse (5.4bhp) because of a much better back box to start with (increasing from 78.9bhp @ 5810rpm to 84.3bhp @ 5850rpm).

The duplex system can be an improvement when done properly. The crucial thing is the Y-piece. It should be done by exhaust tuning specialists and not just by exhaust specialist (if you knoe what I mean).

well mine was done by MIJ performance in wallsall. It is custom made, other than that i dont know much about it, it used to belong to alex who might know better. The response feels quicker. What do you reckon?

Was gonna ask about this. It's the only tubular maifold that will fit the 1242 innit? I know about the spacer, will PM Jamie (y)

You would be sending a pm to the wrong person, I have this manifold, and the spacer Jamie had made was too long, my local machine shop is making me a new one, out of one piece of steel, and then that will be fitted, will post pictures when I get it, they are saying monday, which is a shame, as tomorrow would have meant engine in car.

They certainly have done a good job then. If not it would make the car slower than with the standard back box.

Just as well I forgot to PM him :D Anychance of you getting me one made in the future? Will get the manifold ordered first. I will give money upfront of course and pay P&P.

So having searched around for the answer i'm looking for i've found this page and so i'll put it here instead of starting a new thread..

My back-box is rattling like a b4st4rd and i'm gonna replace it with a supersprint back box. My insurance company gives the options for exhausts as 'non standard performance increase upto 5%, 10% or 15%'. Now i'm thinking that the exhaust in itself won't add much but no idea which bracket it would fall into 5, 10 or 15% what do you reckon???
