Hello everyone I've just got my 06 plate Grande Punto Sporting and plugged my phone charger in and it looks like the socket ain't working. I've tried the charger in my girlfriends car and it worked so it not the charger.
Everything else electrical seems to be working, does the power outlet/lighter have its own fuse and does anyone know where its located?
Also sometimes the mileage flashes once I've started the engine and stays flahing, anyone had this happen to them or know if it means anything?
Thanks for your help

Don't think the flashing mileage means anything, as far as I'm aware its fixed by a software update at the dealer's

The power socket has a fuse in the glovebox fusebox, it say's in the manual what position and ampage you need

Hello welcome to the forum

These two issues come up time and time again There is a forum search in the Red bar at the top of each page if you select advanced search there is a way of restricting the search to the grande punto section.......

For your fag lighter chances are either your phone charger has zapped the fuse (some for some reason do not have a big enough gap between the end and the side contacts which touch the Bimetal release wings inside the bottom of the fag lighter zapping the fuse

((the newer cars with a "power outlet" dont have this issue))

anyhow you need a 20a mini blade fuse and its in the engine compartment fuse box

(just make sure that you refit the cover correctly after fitting the fuse or it will let water in and cause you massive problems)

As for the flashing mileage Its the cars way of telling you its having problems communicating with various "nodes" in and around the car, Now this usually requires plugging into a Fiat computer to reset via a "proxy alignment" to resynchronise the Nodes

However im guessing its only started doing it recently with the cold weather? any trouble starting or the temperature gauge been going to red on start up and dropping down? Any issues with the power steering cutting out on start up?

since its out of warranty i'd get the battery tested first

Thanks Andy Monty, sorry the reply has taken so long, took me a while to find out how to find my old posts
Some replacement fuses came today so gonna try to replace that first. This will seem like a very stupid question but do I have to disconnect the battery to replace a fuse or do I just take the old one out and put the new one in?
The temp gauge has gone up once and the flashing mileage happens maybe 1 in every 10 start-ups

No worries

i wouldn't remove the battery to replace a fuse personally a pair of needle nose pliers might be your friend as the blighter's are Tiny and hard to pull out...

As for your flashing mileage that would suggest a low voltage issue before going out and getting your battery tested just check that the battery terminals are clean and tight and not made up with furr or corrosion?

Do not let the spanner touch the body work or metal components when tightening up the positive clamp

If you take the battery terminals off AWAYS take the negative off first (quick release clamp one) and re attach it LAST

you can coat the terminals with a dedicated battery terminal grease or Vaseline once they are cleaned up ((if indeed they are dirty))

But at your cars age if it is a varta battery i would guess its nearing the end of its serviceable life so get it tested
