power assissted steering keeps going off

my panda is five years old and this problem started about a month ago-seems to be linked to ignition-if steering works when driving when i switch off then restart car then l will find it has gone off.

can anyone help please-car s blooming heavy to drive without it.

Also has anyone ever pulled a caravan wth a car this small-van weighs about 750kg

Check alternator output is 14 ish volts.

1.1, 1.2 and 1.2 4x4 have a manufacturers towing limit of 800kg, the 1.3 900 kg.
