Alfa 145 Cloverleaf.

Just to gauge any prospective interest....

2001 X, 54K, Silver, Full Black leather interior, with cream piping (not standard - reupholstered privately at a cost of £1300) full Alfa history upto 49k then 2xIndependent Specialist services thereafter (all receipts retained and book fully stamped). All belts changed at 32k and 52k, 2X red keys and 1x burgundy master key, new variator, new ECU and injectors last year, 4 x new Goodyear Eagles, New discs/pads to front 2500k ago, Aircon regassed, 8x Plugs replaced with Platinum Tips, alway run on fully synthetic 10w40, Front and rear wish-bones replaced by former owner, full stainless exhaust (cat back), made to replicate original. New air pressure sensor, air bag warning lets not on (amazingly), all Alfa and Cloverleaf Badges replaced, Alpine multichanger (10disc) and front/rear speakers replaced with Alpine units. This is the later 155bhp model.

No engine or bodywork mods whatsoever, however, some tool has keyed the drivers door, which will be professionally repainted, as will the offside alloy which has been slighly kerbed. (Alloys are the standard 15inch 5 hole dials) - locking nuts provided with 2x socket. One point to note is that discs and pads on rear will need replacing shortly.

If anyone is seriously (and I mean seriously) interested, please email me after the festivities for some pics etc.

Last but not leat, I know what Parkers and Glass's say - bearing in mind it's reupholstry and all the documents, it wont be going cheaply - if indeed it does!

alright. can you send pictures and a rough aking price please.

looking for a new motor end of january.

cheers

mate i am seriously interested. i take the p**s quite alot i kno ;) i think my bravo is pretty poor and would rather buy something else than spend money on it!

you seem the type of person who keeps their motors in top condition and i am looking for a new car, so could be a good buy (for a change)!

really want a saab 9-3 but im not payin 10k for the car and another 3k for insurance

Prices, well...........I paid £3k for it; spent £1300 on the leather, £280 on the stainless exhaust, £240 on the Goodyears, £575 on 2 services, belt change and variator, £60 on replacement badges, £130 on new discs and pads on front, £95 on a plug change, £430 on Alpine equipment, £400 on paintwork and I forgot to add that the aircon has just been regassed at £60 and it passed it's MoT the week before last, with no recommendations at all. It's also taxed for 9 months.

I'd rather keep it than let it got for peanuts.

money spent

doesn't matter how much has been spent on a car

what ever its market value is will dictate how much you get for it.

Only way round this is to "con" someone or someone comes along that places a value on the car far above what it should be due to emotional reasons etc

the leather the alpine equipment and the exhaust may increase the value of the car but the rest is purely maintanence.

I am well aware what maintenance is - I paid enough to have it "maintained". Also, you will note that all the maintenace parts are of high quality - for example, Goodyear Eagles as opposed to a budget tyre eg Ecsta, ICE being Alpine, not Goodmans, oli always fully synthetic, etc etc. A prospective buyer will (I imagine) be more inclined to go for a machine, particularly in the hot-hatch category with £1000's in receipts and a full dealer stamped book than one without - I'm sure you would agree?

The point that I was trying to emphasise is that everything has been done on the nail and in many instances, well before time.

I'm not too concerned about selling it, but like I said, I'd rather keep it than let it go for peanuts - irrespective of what "Parkers" says.

I trust this quantifies?

come on rr im still waiting!!

hopefully the bravo's gone in a few days

Roger - it sounds like a lovely motor, hold on to it and cherish it in the way that most of us do our FIATs. Being an old Alfa i'm afraid it has fallen into that odd price and desirability category where the money you have spent on it has made it a misfit - albeit an above average example. Enjoy the perks of the car and drive it into the ground or until the parts are worth more than the car.
Alternatively - you could consider a swap my my other halves 2003 Punto HGT on 36k miles - mint condition in silver? :)

around 3k cash offer subject to viewing.

been looking into these 145's on various alfa forums, sites etc. really intrested in one!

RR this is a serious offer. e-mail pics contact details etc to arrange a meet if your still intrested in selling.

thanks.

Afrer careful consieration (and adding up the receipts), I have decided not to sell it, for the simple reason that it's worth more to me tha it's actaul finacial worth. Th emoney spent on it since we got it is nearly £2250, and when added to the purchase price it's economically not viable to part company with it.

My apologies to anyone if I have ruffled any feathers, but I did say "may be".

fair enough sounds like a tidy motor.

I dont suppose you could get a photo of the interior for me? its the part of the car that lets it down, but i havent seen any with leather seats.

I suppose I could.

The standard seats are very good, not quite buckets but firm and suuportibe none the less.

Leather was an option on the Cloverleaf from new at a cost of about £1700.00. It's very hard to get one now with leather and they come at a premium too.

I tell you something matey, you will need deep pockets if you are considering buying one of these as the running costs are high.

Insurance is OK for me as I'm 41 now, but it's crippling for younger drivers.

Tyres go off very, very quickly, engine MUST have good quality oil (semi synth at least) and I woudl avise a chnge every 6 months. Cam variators wear quickly which make them sound like a deisel from cold, pads seem to disintegrate irrespective of how hard you brake, Alfa servicing is expensive, cambelts are expensive (not in HGT league though), they suffer from frozen handbrake syndrome, a lot of replacemnts are dealer only (front exhaust pipe for example), they average low 20's MPG AND ABOVE ALL, THEY ARE FRAGILE.

If you're keen on getting one, insist on a fully stamped service book (dealer or specialist - no backstreet fiddlers) and a big wedge of receipts.

I sold a red Cloverleaf last Summer, which I wish I'd kept now.

id imagine the running cost to be around the same as my hgt aswell as the insurance etc..

i feel the interior really lets them down its all abit plastic japanese style and looks a bit flimsy.

ive been in-touch with a few tuning companys and they seem to respond well to cams, ecu mods etc found a supercharger conversion aswell!

still not 100% on what i want, hot hatch or luxury cruiser.

I assure you, the Cloverleaf is costlier to run than an HGT - I've had two of each. The Cloverleaf accelerates much quicker than the HGT and pulls from the word go, whereas the HGT doesn't come to life until 4000rpm or so and the speed scrubs off quickly.

They both run the same floorpan and chassis, but the Cloverleaf's suspension is firmer, the steeering is sharper and the breaks more aggressive. The engine is also very on/off.

When/if you sit in one, you will feel the seating position is very "high", but you will get used to it - the visibility front and rear is excellent too.

Added to that "Alfa Rome" sounds better than "FIAT", in answer to "what do you drive?"

Take a peep at one of the Alfa Forums - they will no douby keep you on the straight and narrow. But beware, the majority of them think they're a cut above everybody else - for some strange reason.
