Hello.

I was driving home the other day and I felt the clutch start to slip. Half a mile later the car would engage gear but all drive was lost. Could somebody please shed some light on what this could be? I have been advised it could be the clutch. If so is it a difficult DIY job? I have also been told it is common that the flywheel goes when the clutch does and a replacement is pricey?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Sam.

Sorry i forgot to say it is a 2003 jtd (115). Thanks for the reply. Do you know if it is a difficult DIY job? Is it an engine out job?
Thanks for any help!

fail on not using the search ;)

how much experience do you have at doing your own mechanics?

its not hard job (says an HGV Tech of 10 years) but it may be a little too deep if you have little/no experience... bear in mind it may only cost you another £100 more to get it fitted at a garage than doing it yourself... find a TRUSTED local garage or even better a friend/family member to help you do it.

im not trying to desuede you from doing it but it can be quite a daunting task taking a gearbox out unless you have a garage and the right kit!
