i pm todger and he gave me just about everything i need to know about the stilo swap he did.
i keep ummin and arring about whether to do it or mod the 1.1
my basic aim is a quick cento without goin o.t.t money wise.
there is only a few things i need to know about the stilo swap to completely sway me that way. the engine size and mk of the things i need. i know youv told me but id prefer a list ,
inlet
fuel line + injectors.
coil pack + mounting plate
brava throttle body
+
ss mani
custom exhaust
realy need the year and engine size of the parts listed that will go with the stilo swap
many thanks
ricky
its guna be the 2000 onwards stilo 1.2 16v engine, todger said use mk 1 punto inlet with mk 1 bravo fuel line and injectors, stilo flywheel. sei spi throttle cable, sei gearbox and driveshafts, bravo 1.6 16v throttle body
ss mani and custom exhaust. he ran it without a map so i presume i can.
so as long as all the parts are mk 1 theyle work right?
many thanks
ricky
Honestly as your a new driver unless you have VERY deep pockets i would just stick with it as standard, i would say its not a job you do over the weekend, but you can
you would also have to uprate the suspension and brakes to deal with the extra power etc etc
as said ask your insurance company first to ask about cost increases with these modifications
im not well off but i could have enough by may when my renewal is due. im goin to do the brakes and lower with absorbers aswell
realy want not only a quick cento but to turn heads when the chaved up corsas look at me and think wtf seeeee ya. insurance wont be too bad.
its high enough for me to bother tbh
so the engine swap seems the better way than a modded 1.1
many thanks
ricky
thats what im after now. definately, a sleeper nothing better than a car thats not made quick but is quick.
guna swap to the stilo engine like todger after all the help he give me.
just guna try source all the mk 1 parts first
many thanks

In all honesty mate, get an insurance quote first. Check out Adrian Flux & Chris Knott.
Im not trying to deter you from doing a 1242 16v swap at all, far from it. As has been said before it would probably be a good idea to get an idea of how much the price of a new premium will be.
All the things youve listed there, you would have to tell your underwritter atleast and a few more. I think Todger even had to have the form sent to him to list all the modifications, as it was too much for Adrian Flux to process in one phone call. More mod's = more £'s
If you dont want to do it, then just wait a few years build up some more NCB's and itll be so much cheaper. In the meantime you could probably just stick a backbox on and an air filter, for a fraction of the cost and still get a nice sounding cento.
If you want to go ahead and do this now then go for it, it'll be a little pricey but lots of smiles for the miles
i am going to wait an see what my renewal is before i decide wether i can afford it .
doubt it
i was goin to mod the 1.1 but people say it doesnt make it quick
i duno tho
many thanks

A good place to start is by recovering the performance the car has already lost so give it a good service, replace the HT leads and change the stock panel filter for a better flowing oem replacement (K&N or the like) get the injectors cleaned either lots of injector cleaner of better still get them sonically cleaned
As yours is an MPI then a remap may be the best way to get a bit more out of the car it won't turn it into a rocket but may give a few BHP (I remember some big claims in the past) also has the benefit of being an "invisible mod"
EDIT: forgot to add when you have done this put your efforts into cleaning and polishing a nicely turned out Cento gets much more appreciation than anything else plus the insurance can't touch you for having a shiny car.
thanks for the advise. i looked into remmaping, its around 250 for it. 6 bhp 7 torque is what it says the mpi gains, so not too bad, are magnecor kv85 any good. keep being reccomended . i am goin to buy an induction kit soon and change the spark plugs and leads . is there not any better injectors that fit or would cleaning just be better?
many thanks
ricky
will replacing my leads with new ones help at all ?
i am goin to service it soon as i havent done it since ive owned it.
hopefully retain the lost bhp
then an induction kit, maybe the focus one , that comes reccomended
cat back exhaust and a remmap i think,
ricky
Ultrasonic cleaning of injectors isnt a bad idea, but only if you think they would benefit from it as over time they do block up slightly. If you are talking redex then i wouldnt bother. KV85 leads will only last a bit longer and look good. When you service it remember the fuel filter.
The reason I said get a better flowing OEM replacement is that there is zero effect on the insurance. Unless you get a proven kit like the old GSR's then you may just gain noise and loose power and pay more for your insurance for that
OEM ?
surely more air carnt make you lose power can it?
is it worth getting a bigger throttle body along with the induction and remmap?
if so which one
many thanks
ricky
oooh yes too much air makes the mixture lean.. there is something called the stoichiometric ratio this says that an engine runs best with a ratio of 14.7 parts of air to one part of fuel.. in mass not volume. go either way too far on the ratio and you ruin the power
