Technical Poor radio reception

If I remember correctly they'll need your VIN number

Emailed them last night. They phoned me from Italy today. I have to email them a picture of my driving licence and the V5 and they’ll activate it.

My Uconnect is all activated now but the update button on the screen is still greyed out! Any ideas?

I queried this issue on mine with the Fiat garage when I took the car in for the latest warranty repair. They said it's ok and all software is up to date.

To be honest mine's fine most of the time but when i get to hilly and remote places it seems to drop out a bit too much for my liking.

I’m going to bite the bullet and get a replacement new one on eBay and hope it does the trick. Mine is so bad it’s almost unusable.

Before you do that, does your DAB signal drop out in areas where your mobile reception is good? I find that most of my drop-outs, excluding the passes across the Pennines, only last about a second or two and coincide with a poor 4G signal

Not sure. There are places I know it will do it but it literally does it constantly.

I can't really assist any further. When I lost ALL DAB stations the dealer just changed both the head unit and the aerial under the warranty and one of those fixed it.

Hiya, Just returned to the Fiat fold with a 500X Cross which is a great car except for lousy radio reception. I can get the stuff i don't want like Radio 1 or Classic FM pin sharp but the stuff i do want like Heart FM or Absolute are useless unless i'm in the right place.
I know it's not the aerial mast because i tried the one from my son's 500 Abarth which works fine on his. I have the 5" Uconnect without nav - is it just me or is there a problem? I know i could stream it from my phone but that kinda defeats the object plus the phone is smarter than the user!
Any ideas folks?

On some of the 500X cars the radio antenna consists of 3 parts. Screw on aerial, base and integrated amplifier.

Just changing the screw on aerial is not going to identify base/amplifier issues.

An debug option would be to pull the radio unit and plug in an after market antenna. If things improve then I think yon can conclude that the vehicle fitted antenna unit is at fault.

My bet is that the Arial Base needs replacing, water gets in and they corrode.

Its common on 500, 500x and Tipos

Hi. Thanks. Happened to take it to a dealer garage today for a diagnostics check. The fault is located to the radio amp within aerial base and a new base is required. I take it that’s due to water getting in then?
I hope the problem doesn’t keep coming back if I get it done.
