Hi, i have 2016 500x with 5" radio with navi and I am thinking about radio swap to some android version with bigger screen to have apple CarPlay.
But what concerns me are that car settings that are in the original radio, what will happen if I will change the radio?
Will settings remain the same as they are set now before radio disconnect?

It is my understanding that you can not just change the head unit on it's own. I believe an additional control box and cabling is required. Also after that a Proxy Alignment is required.

Suggest you do detailed research and also question various suppliers. If the supplier says their "kit" will do what you want and retain or transfer the car settings and it fails to do so then you have a case for getting your money back. Buying just off the Internet is probably not a good idea.

Hopefully some other people who have upgraded their head units on the 500X will come and fully answer your questions and tell you what units/kit they used.

Hi @Buko,

I'm in the US, so take this with a grain of salt knowing that your model may be a bit different from ours. But we did replace our stock infotainment system successfully, using the JVC KW-M785BW radio paired with the iDatalink Maestro interface.

The Maestro is what enables you to keep access to your car settings. There are two versions - one which can be updated via Bluetooth and one which must be connected to a computer for updates. (Obviously the Bluetooth one is more expensive, but I wish we had bought it, because you won't want to take all of this apart after putting it together.) I will say the conversion of th vehicle settings to the JVC interface is not perfect. Everything is accessible and works as intended, but the organization is different and a little confusing, so it takes a bit to get used to. Still, much better of a setup than stock!

I highly recommend doing this upgrade, but know that it does take some time and a bit of guesswork since the documentation is a little bit lacking. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I will take a look about this, thanks!
