My Sept 1999 Brava 80 is suffering from poor idling. The revs will sit at about 800 rpm and then drop to around 500 erratically, often causing a stall. Any ideas???
No AC on my car - it happens when nothing else on the car is putting a load on the engine (eg elec windows, power steering sunroof etc). I wondered if there could be a fault with one of the temperature sensors????
on the rover K series engine there r 2 censors 1 is 2 tell the driver the temp of the engine the other is 2 tell the E.C.U the temp the latter could ur prob if it works on simular lines as rover?soz can't help anymore than that.
same problem occurred with my bravo 1.6 sx.
Bad wiring from the sensor to the throttle valve caused the problem. By repairing the wire connection between sensor en valve the problem was solved.
It's extremely likely to be the idle valve. My 1999 80SX did just that. Costs about £60 and fits easily in minutes. Will probably need an ECU remap too to bring it all into line.
