General plz help maybe engine prob

hi

I have a seicento sx on a y reg.

Ive noticed when im still for example in traffic or just leting the car run that the car engine feels like it is going to stall and shakes the car.

ive changed the air filter and i recently had problem with the engine mangement system light but ive had that sorted i bought some redex to clear the system.

plz can u help.

does my car need a new engine (hope not its only done only 42,000 miles)

Only in traffic? Could it just be the fan coming on?

Sounds like the management system is not able to increase the revs when the fan kicks in, assuming the fan does kick in.

Can you hear the fan running?

whats the engine like on the move does it run ok? and when did it last get a service? i wouldnt have thought at that milage the engine needed replacing get the more simple things looked at first could be something daft like a set of spark plugs or a faulty sensor etc

those engine do tend to drop revs alot and apear to run a little rough when the fan cuts in though there a small engine,,,if its that bad could be a faulty idle valve??

I am thinking a lack of a service or idle control valve as said.

They have never been good at idle have seis.

Upgrading the ignition leads like magnecor kv85's did wonders for mine at idling, much more smooth

I would go with a basic service, new of everything and i think you will find no new engine will be required here

the fan does come on and works fine.

its mainly when im stood still theres like a pulling moment and its quite bad

please can you explain what a ide value is plz

It allowing airflow when the throttle blades are closed. It is the idle speed controlled quite carefully, which improves idle emissions and decreases fuel usage. Modern engines often use changes in ignition advance to aid in controlling idle speed, as an engine with a substantial amount of intake manifold plenum volume may not react quickly to small changes in airflow.

its really annoying me now
