na mate but being serious....there aint as much/people topics etc... as there used 2b...

yeah this is true it died down abit over xmas period and is starting to pick up a wee bit more now after speaking about it we are going to try and make it to as much shows, cruises etc this year as we can and just flyer any modded fiat we see, hopefully this will help get more members, posts, etc

hope this covers all your questions 8)

For sure it has been quiet around here lately. Hopefully once the meets start getting more regular and we get more interest in the club, things will pick up. I'm not sure if the time of year is affecting things...could be that everyone is still getting over christmas? I must say that all the admin team are always working hard to make the site better and improve the club. The only way to generate more interest is for more of our members to turn up at our events and show everybody that this is the place to be in scotland for Fiats and having a laugh. Its places like crail etc that people will see a big turn out and think that we are a club to be taken seriously.

i think we should add abit....
suggestions on how 2 improve fiat-scotland...
most websites have got a forum bit like that...

If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to email or PM a member of the admin team.

Laffy - a suggestions forum would probably turn into a dead forum after all of a week. Every time I make an update on the site I invite folk to make comments + suggestions, but no one does. Thats just how it is!

Mikey + Dave are right. It is a bit quiet (too quiet for my liking) but then hey I guess folk have better things to do! If anyone is interested it looks like Dave, Steve and myself will be in Perth on sunday so we could have a wee get together if anyone wants?!

As for the site, Im hoping someone with a scanner can get in touch cos we're launching a press section where we're going to publush press cuttings (ie alex + grammys appearances in F+M this month, lisa's in last months etc etc)

Any yes....suggestions....ANY, be they good or bad. Email/pm or even flyer the car. Get in touch!

IMHO you should stop messing with the site.

If the site has radical changes as has happened recently - new front page and totally different forum layout - people will get pissed off.

Putting 'scotland' in the name excludes anyone not in Scotland so - with hindsight - not the best idea.

If you go to http://www.aberdeenbikers.co.uk you'll find that the layout has been the same for a very long time. Nothing has changed. But it's still a very popular sight.

Having 'Aberdeen' in the name perhaps excludes others but motorcycle owners are generally more enthusiastic than car owners. One of the benefits is that the local theme encourages more people to join.

IMHO if you want the site to be a success change the name to something 'all inclusive' and stick to one design.

14 forums also seems a tad over-the-top for a site with less than 150 registered members.

Perhaps 4 would do... 'General Chat' 'Your Cars' 'Events' and 'For Sale/Wanted'.

notice we get a mention on there eh

as for your other points its a scottish based forum for scottish fiat owners, it is aimed for the people who live in scotland as most of the other forums are all aimed towards english members(for meets, events etc) thats why it has scotland in the title. the main site has changed alot as martyn wasmt happy with the look of it now it has a much more proffesional look to it which will hopefully help with more memebers signing up(more people will maybe be more likely to sign up to a proffesional looking club/forum compared to a basic looking one)

A couple of valid points Grant, don't agree with quite everything but some of it.

Fair enough, the site design (and logos) has changed a good few times. Im not sure about "too many" times, but they have changed a couple of times. Like I've said though, this is the last design change Im doing for the forseeable future. Logos won't be changing, banners wont be changing. The only thing Im planning on doing to the site is adding pages, possibly the odd bit of tweaking the menu - thats about it.

As for the Scotland part of the title limiting use - that was kind of the plan from day one. Yes, we've limited ourselves to Scotland but that's where the majority of users are based. Every other Fiat-esque forum is based in England and as such there is very little happening for the Scottish members. Maybe its a lack of members getting involved, who knows. Our aim is to provide a Fiat community for Scotland. That said, we have quite a few english based members and we certainly wont exclude them from anything to do with the site, be it discussion or participating in meets/events. The more the merrier.

Granted, I haven't perhaps run the site as best as I could have. I guess it's one of these things you live and learn from. The one part of the site I've been genuinely proud of regarding the site is the forums. On a good day (which seems to be every second day!) it's a fairly active forum. Now that we've managed to get a few more folk on board the team it seems to be doing a lot better. I think limiting the forum to just four forums at this stage would be taking a step backword, if anything. Any forums that become seriously inactive are "reviewed" by admin on a regular basis. Hopefully this year we can build upon what we achieved in 2004. In fact, Im sure that with the folk we've got helping out on the site, we WILL build upon things. We're looking to get this forum even busier in 2005, and have planned a lot of meets/events as well as that we're currently planning which shows we're goign to have a site presence at this year. Hopefully with proper awareness of the site (web + flyer) we can really make the site something to shout about in 2005.

For the record, we had a relatively succesful rolling road day at the end of last year. See the http://www.fiat-scotland.com/site2/features.php features page on the site for more info. Hopefully we'll have LOTS more of the same this year! Maybe you can tag along to one of our meets/events this year Grant?!
