I have an alfa mito, pretty sure it's engine is similar to the abarth 500? In the middle of cambelt replacement but the nut holding on the tentioner is rounded off, any ideas if it is a special nut or just a normal nut, thanks

Hi yes sorry its a 2010 mito 1.4tb multiair 135bhp

There is no nylock on the nut, the tentioner is help on by just sheer friction, ie there is no locating pin on the tentioner or the block, the tentioner is the type with the 2 holes in it for a pin hole wrench to be used to tention it then the nut is tightened, hope that makes sence?

Can you tap on a smaller single hex socket ( imperial..)

Once its off you can probably file to a 12 hex..from 13

Or just wait for a replacement

I can get it off no problem it's tightening it that's the issue lol, need a replacement but can't find the part thanks

Do you think a standard nut with threadlock will do as a replacement?

Did you file the original?

Often similar fixings are dotted around the car.. but without a picture I would struggle to guide you

Window mechanisms and the rear hatch are often similar
